It hit this family
Brother in-law and Sister in law (husband & wife) were taken by ambulance to the hospital late yesterday (Easton, Maryland). Praying for the best for them. I wish they had gone to the doctor earlier. They've been sick for 2 weeks, ages 75 & 76. COVID-19 tests won't be back until tomorrow (Thursday).

[quote=rdlr;59343270]It's worse than that, Mary. And, the stats below are not the most recent.

Yes, I am aware of the large number of deaths you referenced. What concerned me was the sudden ( in the past six weeks) increase in current hospitalizations and number of recent critical cases in hospitals.

The third week in August we started to see a jump in hospitalizations and more recently a big jump in those who are listed as critical. This sudden dramatic increase of active hospitalized cases may be explained by the recent report about the 3 long term care facilities outbreak which were referenced in the newspaper article.

I hope these current critical cases never make it to the list you referenced. My original post was simply to suggest a reason why we are seeing such a sharp increase in hospitalizations and critical cases when up until 6 weeks ago the hospitalizations had been on a steady decline.

PS: Rdlr hope your extended family will be OK and out of the hospital soon.

Really upset me reading the DE State News today (we get online) to see pix with so many people not wearing masks, or wearing them incorrectly! Then we look at these numbers and some wonder why. DUH!!! Do they think it is more imporant to have their pictures recognized than to follow protocol? I realize a couple of these were old (one with Carney on the front page), but not all of them. The ones that really get me are the ones where people are picketing to get everything back open, yet usually not one of them has a mask on. Yelling at each other and around each other and spitting everywhere. And you can bet a bunch of them won't get a flu shot either.
