While I'm not a smoker or ingester....I am glad that it's legal, because I do have problems with eczema, and I was advised THC oil is good for that. I recently went to the local shop that opened near me and bought bath salts and salve infused with the THC oil, and the eczema cleared up amazingly. (Nothing else was really all that effective.) It's such a relief to not be itchy and rashy.

What happens when they finally put out Marijuana without the high, for medical purposes? Will States adapt that instead? or is the money just to large to walk away from?

Here's my take on what you said. I agree with some of it, there is definitely an influx of homeless to the Denver area, but it's not because normal Denver citizens starting toking up and suddenly became mental zombies. These people were already homeless in other cities and decided to come to Denver because of its tolerance for drug use and bleeding heart liberal mentality. This will remain a problem for the forseable future until more states legalize marijuana. I think you'll see some relief after 2016, assuming California votes to legalize (pretty good chance).

You're right that more people are using in public even though that is still illegal. There's not much enforcement, but I'm not sure what the big deal is? The smell is interesting, but not offensive and being outdoors it usually dissipates quickly. I agree that people should respect the rights of others and only smoke in designated areas, but a few bad apples don't spoil the whole bunch... (and now that damn Donny Osmond song is stuck in my head, see what you did here!

Anyway, legalization is the way to go and Denver/Colorado is leading the way. That means you have to deal with some negative aspects until the rest of the country catches up to modern times. Until then, relax, be happy.

And what's wrong with throwing money at schools?

I DO live in Colorado, and the biggest smoke issue for me is the nasty cigarette smoke occassionally wafting up from the condo balcony below mine. Although mostly a non-toker myself, I'd glady trade the nasty cigarette smoke for the relatively sweet fragrance of cannabis smoke.

I can't stand the smell...I get nasty headaches..I don't know can I be allergic?!
Relax? I am...I just see the negative as well...

Also, I never said that the homelessness are because people started becoming mental zombies...they came for the pot

We throw the most money at schools (I believe the US pumps the most $) and we still have crappy schools...I'd rather throw money at getting our roads up to par..

I have friends in LEO and was told other than at 4/20 they don't write tickets..there's not much they can do...

I have a wait and see attitude but there are days when I am fed up.

Besides, "just say, no" has worked so well. That $50 billion we spend each year on the war on drugs has been money well spent. We have made the prison/enforcement/legal industries flush with cash, all while increasing drug use. The millions of citizens lives that have been ruined don't matter. What matters is maintaining the lie that marijuana is a harmful substance devoid of medical value.

It's important to accept that the federal government knows best. It's important to understand that the federal government can own a patent on “Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants” * for over a decade, yet still keep marijuana as a scheduled one drug. That's not hypocritical at all. We're just to dumb to understand the logic of the federal government (which we fund with our tax dollars).

Yes, we the tax payers are just there to fund the government, not to question it or to hold it accountable.

The one trillion dollars that's been spent fighting the war on drugs, with absolutely nothing to show for it? That's OK right? I mean I can't think of anything we could have used that money for, can you? I mean it's not like this county is in 13 trillion dollars of debt or anything.

It would be irrational to stop wasting $50 billion dollars a year and start collecting ~$1 billion dollars a year in marijuana tax. Instead, we should go with the tried and true, "just say no". Good idea!

*“Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants” and was awarded to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in October 2003
Well written, love this response. I don't use any drugs legal or not rarely take Tylenol, but this is a great argument and applies to so many of the laws hindering our rights in this country.

I go out to public functions all the time and not once have been bothered by excessive smoke. I am just glad peoples lives in Colorado are no longer being destroyed by an overzealous judicial system that criminalized a harmless plant .

"Give me money, don't give it to schools" Nice.

Throwing people in jail for doing something that causes no harm to others is insane. Sorry it annoys you, but that is hardly a reason for having something be illegal. I don't use marijuana. I don't like smoke, but I can hardly imagine having to tell some kid that I think his dad should lose his job or get thrown in jail because he smoked a joint. Makes absolutely no sense and perpetuates a cycle of poverty.

It's funny that no one says anything about the horrible chemical odors coming out of Commerce City that I'm sure are far more harmful. How about the smells of burning carcasses in Greeley?

Hmmm. Interesting. On my scouting trips to Denver to see if it would be the right fit for me and my family, I definitely was interested in seeing how publicly prevalent it is. I smelled it 2 times in 3 weeks, both in confluence park while younger people were enjoying the day. Not offensive to me at all. I agree that I would much rather smell weed than cigarettes! Many more cigarette smokers than weed smokers in my limited experience in Denver. I will take a marijuana user any day over a crack head or meth addict.
