I recently got a job offer in Denver- specifically Centennial.
I have 3 kids- 4th, 6th and 9th grade.
We will be renting until we find a place to buy- and until out current home sells.
So far, it sounds like Greenwood Village, Highlands Ranch and Parker are pretty nice places with good schools.
I have been checking Craigslist and we can find affordable rentals in these areas.
We want a safe neighborhood with good schools. Anywhere to avoid? I have heard I need to avoid Aurora.
Any help is appreciated.

We just moved here in July and are renting in Centennial. Around Smoky Hill and Himilaya area. This area is very nice and the schools are great. Cherry Creek district. Any store you would need is very close. I know how hard it is trying to find a rental. We had to look from MI and have a family friend check out the house for us. They did a great job. I have seen several signs on homes in our neighborhood. Not sure what or where your looking but this area is vey nice. Good Luck.

thanks for the feedback- we are coming from Chicago so are similar to you. I will have some friends/c0-workers check out the rentals for us.
Did you sign the lease from MI? How was the move?

We did sign our lease from MI by fax. The move was a little crazy. We rented a Budget truck as a moving company was way too expensive. We drove our vehicles and my uncle drove the moving truck. Our kids are younger than yours, 4 & 7. They actually did great for the 3 days that it took us. We also had our dog, who does not like car rides. Had to give him meds. It was very looong and I don't know if I could ever do it again.

I would not agree with avoiding ALL of Aurora. There are many nice parts of Aurora. You have to come out and look yourselves, get a feel for the area. Even if you have to pay for a house-hunting trip out of pocket, it's worth it. Re: schools, there is much information on this forum about schools. I would suggest doing a search. Parts of Aurora are in the Cherry Creek SD, which is highly sought after by many parents.

Default Moving

Hi splashback,

We are getting ready to move to the Chicago area from Parker. All of the areas you mentioned are great. Just curious what part of Chicago you are moving from. Let me know if you any more detailed info about the neighborhoods.

We're moving to Denver on 10/31 from Grand Rapids, MI. We just sold our house (Thankfully) and will be renting out there for awhile. We got a 26' Penske rental truck and a car carrier. There will also be 3 dogs coming with us on our move. I'm thinking it will be kinda crazy as I will be driving my car behind the truck and carrier. The only thing left is to rent a townhome. I'm thankful that my sister already lives out there and is my eyes for looking at rentals we're interested in.

I CANT WAIT TO BE OUT THERE!!!

I know this will sound really petty but,.....I think since the truck with the carrier can't see directly behind them,.....the car should be driving in front of the truck. You can see them thru your rearview and they can see you.
I did this in a long move. Your view behind the truck wouldn't be very pleasant (it would drive me crazy!)......just a thought.
