My diet is well rounded. I like mexican food, Italian food, fast food, buffet food.

I know I could not live without meat. Tatanka! My primary goal is portion control and a sensible diet. I rarely eat desserts and I don't like pastries. But I definitely don't qualify as a poster child for diabetes. . Except maybe as the BEFORE picture.
What help me get down to the A1c of 5.2 was giving up all the grains in all forms. There goes your Italian. One thing I now enjoy is the Mission brand of tortillas that are the high fiber and low carb ones. Lots of reduced sugar peanut butter and refried beans with green chilies. All the meat I want. Eggs to but eggs I could live without. It's my fruit I hate to dump and do indulged some. Home grown pineapples have my number....

A1C of 5.2 is great. I think the best I have done is 6.8. I have been high as 9!

Any kind of sugar tastes gross. If I buy a cheap brand of spaghetti sauce, I can really taste the sugar. I don't like sweeteners. But I must admit I love Coke Zero.

Mostly I try and keep an even keel and not get crazy OCD over my diet. Because it will have a reverse affect on me. I will start sneaking pizzas and fries. On a good note, I stay away from crackers, pancakes, and any of the obvious foods that crank up my blood sugar.

Coincidence, I had a bean burrito today. The best thing for me is having dogs. I love to take my dogs for walks. It is really good for me and they love it.

I get my little bit of exercise by shopping. Walk the whole box store every aisle and buy one little thing. The AC is free.
