I know several people who have had diabetes for many years (some over forty years). They seem fine, look very normal just like other healthy people. That gives the impression that diabetes is not that dreadful if you can take the necessary medications. Maybe one can live to very old age relatively healthily as if without diabetes?

My mother had Type II and she lived to be 93. Of course, one case does not prove anything in general. And she took care of herself.
