I have been doing alow carb diet for over 10 years now. I have strung together 3 years solid of eating under 100 grams of carbs. I have found things that work, and am just plain out feeling physically healthy. Mentally well that changes like the wind. My mom and sister both died of terrible type 2 diabetes related deaths. I am hoping all of us can bond together and make this next year the healthest and best in our lives. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

stevemorse,

I also have a family history of diabetes and working real hard not to get it. With an A1C of 5.9% my doctor is not too worried, but, I would like to see it lower.

My problem is that I am not overweight - just the opposite. At 5' 6" I would like to stay at about 120 lbs, but, eating healthy for the past few years I have trouble staying at 115 lbs.- often dropping lower when I get more exercise during the warmer months. ( I am officially underweight when I drop below 113 lbs.)

There is lots of information about losing weight and lowering carbs, but, I can't seem to find much on gaining weight and not overdoing it with the carbs. I have a high medibolic rate and in order to gain a 1/2 lb a month I need to consume 2100 - 2300 calories a day ( and that is with minimal exercise). Eating that much is not easy when you don't eat junk food.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to increase my calorie intake without increasing the carbs? I would like to increase my exercise level, but, I can't afford to lose any more weight.
