Within the last several months is the FIRST TIME EVER, I started noticing my toenails turning a dark color. It's only on 3 toes: The 4th & 5th toes on one foot & just the 4th toe on the other foot. It hasn't gone to the other toes. The dark nails are thick when I cut them with clippers. I think it's a fungus & went to the doctor yesterday. He gave me a prescription for an oral pill, then see him again in another month where I'll then have to take a blood test since he said the meds could have an affect on the liver.

I don't think I have diabetes though. What do you think?

Plenty of folks have toenail fungus without having diabetes. Did the doc check your blood sugar?

What makes you think you're diabetic? Do you have any actual diabetic symptoms? Has your doctor done any blood work on you? You need to have your blood glucose checked as well as your A1C (while fasting)

Thick, dark nails have fungus. I know the pill he gave you but I can't remember the name. You have to take it for I think 81 days and it will kill the fungus. You then have to wait for your nails to grow out to get rid of the darkness and thickness.

He should have checked your liver BEFORE prescribing this pill. It's good that he's doing it in a month, though, to make sure it's not causing any damage.
