I just finished the first day of this diet and my confidence is high. The fact that I can eat as much as I want from the (limited) protein list really helps. I may get sick of chicken and tuna, but I won't go hungry. Also unlimited vegetables. I think I can succeed in losing my unwanted 35-40 pounds on this one.
The basic idea of the 17-day diet is that you switch foods every 17 days, so you never truly have a chance to get bored and revert back to eating nothing but unhealthy fat-creating crap.
You can go on it indefinitely, adjusting as needed for your weight needs, and it's intended to be nutritionally balanced (obviously if you eat 20 pounds of string beans in a day it won't be nutritionally balanced).
That's the general idea of it. I haven't tried it, but I've been tempted. You can only get the book online though, and I prefer to support actual real solid touchable bookstores, or the public library.
I bought the book at Costco for $14.29. I think it just came out in regular stores in April. Don't know if it's available in smaller bookstores though.
4 phase diet similar to many on the market already. Unlimited vegetables, sounds like Dukan. I calorie cycle on a weekly basis & it really works.

The first phase is similar to the Atkins diet. But unlike the Atkins diet, the 17 day diet changes cycles every 17 days. It's a carb cyclic diet, rather than just a diet that starts low carb and slowly adds carbs.
You could read actual, factual information about each one on their own websites and compare them for yourself..it'll be more useful than having a bunch of us interpret what we think we know about them
