What's wrong with just a cup or two? It's pretty dehydrating stuff, and that's a lot of caffeine.
I can only have 2 cups a day or I get really dehydrated, but my husband can drink a whole pot and have no problems with it.

I'm very skeptical of the old Dr. Oz. Someone else replied that he is "tid bit" guy, and that is spot on. I have never seen one person throw so much contradictory knowledge up in the span of months. I'm sure some of what he says is good, but for me it all boils down to common sense. If your body feels healthy with what you are consuming, you are probably fine - all things in moderation!

Dr Oz is a little baffling. I googled his coffee advice and as it turns out he is actually pitching (or was pitching) some sort of coffee bean product for weight loss. Yet, he doesn't drink coffee himself and I remember him saying on at least one show in the past that women who want to lose weight should ditch their A.M. coffee habit.

He seems a little wishy washy on the subject to me...and honestly, I really don't watch him if I can avoid it.

Dr is is full of it. I have lost 13 lbs doing a cut ( I lift ) and coffee is my savior!! I am also very lean so it was hard for me to lose weight and I did it drinking TONS OF COFFEE!! If it was not for coffee I would not have lost the weight.

Coffee plays a big role in my cardio and why I am able to keep my body fat % down to always be able to show my abs and "V".

Every morning, before my cardio session, I drink a cup of black coffee. This gives me a tiny jolt of energy to start my cardio session. Since I always do my AM cardio on an empty stomach, coffee gives me that little boost to get going.

I was discussing this with my neighbor this morning and she said it does dehydrate you if you drink too much. She said it's a false diaretic. I never thought about it much.since I only drink 2 cups a day I try and drink water in between.

I'm having trouble finding any reference to those statements by Dr. Oz -- I found this:
Dr. Oz's 5 Latest Diet Myths Busted

Where his biggest complaint is coffee making you urinate too much. I like Dr. Oz but not sure what he reasoning was behind the statements the OP is talking about. My guess is that is has more to do with drinking Coffees loaded with Sugars - as in something you'd get at starbucks or how the average american drinks their coffee... if in that case -- sugar rush then hunger

Dr Oz is an idiot. Enjoy your coffee. There are other good thing about coffee like antioxidants. I drink coffee nearly every day and I am losing weight at a conistent rate.
