...I never realized just how many food commercials are on TV. It's one right after another. Pizza Hut, Burger King, Taco Bell, Taco Johns, Quiznos, Subway -- It's a never ending stream of food ads.

Just keep in mind the saying " a few minutes on the lips, isn't worth a lifetime on the hips" or something like that.

Tell me about it. And I never really paid attention to how many of said restaurants are so near my house. I stopped at the store last night for a few things, and when I got out of the car, all I could smell were onion rings. GAH!

I simply refuse to watch any commercials. I've trained myself to either flip to another channel, get up and attend to a chore, do pushups, crunches, yoga stretches, or some type of exercise during commercials. Channel flipping doesn't always work because commercials tend to run on all the channels at the same time. This must be conspiracy to thwart channels flippers!

Actually I've found a lot of the commercials pretty gross. If you sit at a restaurant or even a fast food joint and take 5 minutes to look at the people around you eat--how they chew, how they swallow, and how a lot of the times (unless they're eating daintily) stuff falls out of their mouths, out of their hands---what is served in those commercials become very unappealing. It was definitely motivation to watch what I was shoving into my mouth.

Thank heaven for DVR. Every show we watch has been pre-Recorded so we can watch at our own convienience and ffwd through commercials. Most sporting events we start watching and hour or two late so we can ffwd through comercials as we come to them.

Mute button during commercials. Chat with whoever's watching with you.

I always knew they were there. When I started eating healthy, what I really noticed was all my coworkers getting a pizza or hamburger and fries every day for lunch. Man, talk about eating your way to an early grave. The cafeteria food sucks anyway. Why not get a salad instead and save your fats and greases for GOOD TASTING junk food?

I also noticed the high cost of eating right. Those fast-food joints are CHEAP compared to anything healthy. Cooking yourself veggies from the market isn't too expensive, but it takes a lot of time and effort and you have to shop around so you don't get ripped off on prices. The cheapest decent prepared food will run you more than $5 a meal, minimum.
