This was no always so
The America of my youth was slim
And gross obesity was not seen as a disability but a choice and an indicator of sloth and gluttony
Moral issues not medical issues
But that was long ago when parents and church’s taught ethics and health
Not schools

Don't bring toxic religion into this topic. It does not belong.
People were thinner a generation or two ago its true but not for the reasons you say. You can be obese and be a moral person. It's ridiculous to think otherwise.

People who tie weight to morality need education on the former and lack the latter.

I have been on a high protein low carbohydrate for years, paleo/keto approach before that even was labeld as such. I have been gluten free for over 10 years as well, much easier now. The majority of the very good tasting frozen/fast/processed foods have appetite stimulating wheat- meaning you crave more of the food items and do not receive the satiating brain signals compared to era before modern wheat prior to the mid 1980's. Food Processors have done a great job at increasing sales by making many food items very addicting.
There is a safety factor. If I was a single woman there is no way I’d hike trails or walk through forests alone. Luckily I have a partner and can enjoy all these activities in nature on an almost daily basis.
Yeah, and then you add headphones so you are oblivious to what might be coming up on you.
I hiked alone alot, but left notes for DH about where I went---just short local hikes. Together we did some awesome ones in SE Utah.

If sugars are the cause of obesity why does obesity keep rising but sugar consumption has fallen? You always perpetuate these myths that sugar and carbs are the cause of obesity when the real cause is overconsumption of calories.
