I picked up a small container of oatmeal on my way to the office this morning--added a small amount of milk, a few raisins, and cinnamon, recording it all faithfully in MFP, of course. Ate that at 8:15.
It's now 10:45, and I am hungry. I picked up an apple from a juice truck along the sidewalk near the office. Glad I did. An apple is hardly satiating, but it will take the edge off till lunchtime. I hope.
I think of 5-6 nuts as a way to dull some hunger pains before bed so I am not starving when I go to sleep. Or to tide me over when I am feeling a bit of nausea and a meal is coming really soon!
I experience feelings of wanting to eat more food, but not hunger. However I am on a modest diet, not a crash diet. I'm eating about what I expect to eat when I reach my target weight (middle of BMI normal range). This is a slower approach but never the less if you eat the diet of a person who weighs what you desire to weigh, given enough time you will be that weight.
I also do fairly strenuous workouts (about one hour/day) at my local gym 3-5 days per week, including 30 minutes on a treadmill at 2.5 slope and 3.3 mph. I hate that! The rest of my time is spent on various upper-body and lower-body exercise machines. I take only short rest breaks between machines, and try to alternate upper and lower body muscle groups.

But for an actual snack? More like 15-20!
Yes, that small amount of nuts do tide me over. Actually for me, they can hold me for over 2 hours.
I usually eat them on the fly.
Air popped popcorn is a volume snack that is relatively low in calories. I'm talking about the unbuttered variety. Try it. I eat every 2-3 hours to avoid hunger.
I recently increased my work out routines (from 4 - 5 days a week to 7 days a week) with the goal being to lose weight without further restriction of calories. I think I eat well balanced meals, very minimal sugar, plenty of lean protein, veggies, fruits and as well as some "bad carbs" (occasional pizza, pasta, wine) but I try to maintain a good balance. That said, I hate restricting my calorie intake to lose weight, I much prefer to increase muscle (strength training) and cardio to burn calories. My challenge is, the more I work out, the hungrier I get. Today I did 60 minutes of high intensity cardio on my lunch break. Afterward I had a turkey/avocado wrap. Normally that would hold me until dinner but, because I worked out, I'm hungrier! So, how do folks lose the weight without being hungry? I've tried increasing veggies but I never actually feel satiated no matter how much vegetables I eat. Or is the reality simply, if you want to lose weight, you have to accept feeling hungry? Very frustrating...
have you tried having a shake or even some kind of bar after your work out, a shake seems to help me stay full longer than eating afterwards

I like Nestle flavored breakfast drink mix. Loaded with vitamins, and although it recommends using fat free milk, I use 2%, and it lasts a couple of hours at least.
