Technically you can eat such foods in smaller amounts/limited amounts and still lose weight. It's all about the caloric deficit and if you eat sparingly throughout the day, you can make room for one of those "bad" foods. The key word is "one" not all in a day.
In my years of dealing with diets and various scenarios, I've found that the best way to lose weight and keep it off is to come to embrace both healthy and unhealthy eating. Here in the US at least, we love to eat too much of just about everything and follow that up with masochist dieting.
