Wonder why Asia, Russia, Sweden, Finland, etc... have not had the same genetic change?

Nope, sorry, but not buying it. There is NO way you could get to 300lbs and in a wheelchair 'eating right', unless you have some severe underlying metobolic issue ( in which case u need to find a new doctor if yours is saying there's nothing wrong ). If you are down to even burning 1100 cals a day, then that is what u should be eating. Careful picks of food to make those cals. count. When u tell ur doctor that you eat right ( primarily veges. w/out butter or sauces, whole grain breads, fresh fruits, no soda, etc, right?) how does he possible explain your gain??

Want to know if there's still a stigma with being obese? Just read some of these posts. People who won't even be friends with someone overweight?! How shallow and sad is that?! The type of person you are is not determined by your body size. You can be skinny and be a bad person. You can be skinny and be lazy. You can be overweight and be a good friend and be very active.

Actually their universal healthcare is a recent event (last 50-75 years) but their bodytype hasn't changed for centuries. Universal Healthcare has nothing to do with it in this case. No significant change from their bodytype 100 years ago versus now.

The key to losing weight any weight is to EXERCISE....even if a person gets aLapband they stress EXERCISE. And even tho I eat 700 to 900 cal a day I cant EXERCISE there for I dont loose.

Being fat doesnt bother me...I still fit in a normal chair without over flow!!

Katie is correct about exercise being the most important thing to losing weight..I have a grandson who is a quadraplegic, needless to say he is either wheelchair bound or bed bound 24/7..The only exercise he gets are the leg exercises we do for him every morning and the exercise he gets from the very limited amount of use of his arms in a manual wheelchair, which he uses whenever he has to be transported by car, since we don't have a handicap equipped van for him..He is 25 years old..He weighed 165 the day of his accident 7 years ago..He now weighs at least 240 pounds..That is just a guess, since it is difficult to weigh him..He does not overeat..

Stigma for being fat?

No more so than anything else that contributes to your overall appearance.

Hey, I'm carrying more weight than I like and I know I'm less attractive than I used to be because of it. I'm working to lose weight now and I recognize that this is MY problem and not societies failure to "accept me the way I am".

People that sit around blaming others for their problems never get anywhere and people are also really good at rationalizing their addictions.
