I recently had some hot spot issues with my old dog and searched on the internets for a treatment. One product called "Domeboro" (aluminium acitate) was recommended by a pet health web site. I was very pleased with the results. Within two days the hot spot was dried up and healing.
This product is a powder that you mix with water and spray on the wound. It cost 14 dollars BUT there is probably enough in the package to treat 10 hot spot incidents. I am retaining the remaining medication for future issues. (I have six dogs so the chances are at some point it will be needed again)
