So sweet! I love his reasoning, wanting something to hold on to after his baby passed on. So cute, i need a dang tissue.

There are exceptions to every rule. I have a 19 cat that has a heart murmer, hypertropic cardio myopathy, is hypo-thyroid, anal gland issues, and has been dealing with kidney failure for 5 years. He suffered heart failure and just keeps on ticking.

My BF has a big brown mutt named Lilith (think she's a pit mixed with some kind of large breed dog, but not sure what) When she was 14, she had a major surgery to remove tumors...everyone said we were nuts to put her through it, but they don't know our Lilith. She's 17 now...in fact, I just saw her a few minutes ago chomping happily on a duck and cherry treat and dripping wet from playing with the water hose .

That is one of the most touching pictures I've ever seen.

For those questioning the dog's age; go away.

I gave everyone who responded positively to this thread a reputation bump... Some twice... This is why we love our dogs to the very end, and why it is so hard to finally do the compassionate thing.

If only God loves us as much as we love our dogs.
