So glad she's getting a good home.
Aren't there laws about how an outside dog must be maintained concerning shelter, food/water? Although I think leaving the dog out there forever misses any point as to having a dog- do they hope she will bark if invaders approach?!
When I'm ready to lose my mind that such people exist, I have to remember people like your uncle, too.

Why do people do this? Well, some are just stupid and all consumed with themselves. I have seen this behavior and called Animal Control and they did nothing but talk to the people and tell them a neighbor was "concerned". Sadly, these people are about the same as parents.

Nobody cares here. We don't have ASPCA or Animal Control.

She'll still be a mostly outside dog, but she'll have better shelter and definitely get the attention she deserves. Her name is Sadie now.

So glad your uncle took her! That is wonderful news!

I'm ashamed to admit this, but many years ago, I saw a neighbor kid that was abusing her cat outside on a regular basis. I talked to the mom, and she didn't care. I talked to the kid, who didn't care either. When we moved out of that neighborhood, I boxed up the cat in one of those long under the bed boxes (the cat's head kept popping up out of it, which the kid saw) and took her with me to our new home. She had a pampered live for many more years after that. I feel bad for stealing the cat now, but couldn't deal with watching her be abused anymore.
