Hello from Toronto.
I thought that some of you might be interested in a program that the City of Toronto has been running to micro chip and license dogs and cats in our city. Toronto animal services runs the program.
From spring to fall, the city has a mobile truck that sets up in parking lots of schools and community centres, to allow residents to get their annual license and have a micro chip implanted in their furry kid.
Cost of an annual license is $25 for a cat, and $35 for a dog. Chips are $10.
Here is a link to the city programs website.

Pet stores in the city of Toronto are no longer allowed to sell dogs, to prevent the puppy mills from profiting from sales. The Province of Ontario has also banned pit bull type dogs, so no ownership or sales or breeding of them is allowed here. Ontario has a population of 13 million people, and is the second largest Province in Canada, in terms of square mile area.
