Just to share a story I almost decided to breed my dog. Wasn't a decision I made, I got a call from the breeder my dog came from, I actually had adopted him from the person who bought the dog from the breeder. I guess my dogs father had been hit by a car and killed so they wanted to breed my dog to keep the line going. They recommend neutering bully breeds closer to a year moreso than as puppies so I still hadn't neutered my dog. I considered it but after doing some research decided against it.

Just so you know breeding dogs isn't realy that profitable if you do it properly. Sure if you just breed your dog and see what happens and try to sell your yorkies for 2k a piece maybe you can make some money but to properly get genetic testing done and do things correctly its' really not that profitable , most people do it because they love the breed and want to enhance and further the breed and breed healthy dogs who meet breedd standard. They do it for the breed not for the money.

Great advice above.....

I have some of the top hunting hounds in the country.

They will never have pups.

Does the Yorkie have his current CERF certificate? What is his OFA score for his hips and elbows? Are his patellas certified? Is he within the size limits for the breed standard? Correct coat? Level top line? Excellent temperament? How did his thyroid test and Von Willdebrands test come out? Hearing test? Any health issues at all? Does he have any points or titles in any sport?

How are all the health tests looking on the nearest 3 generations of his pedigree?

I'm trying to find out if he is worth breeding before I give you advice.

Except that I can tell you that when you have the male dog, you have to wait for the person with the female canine to ask you. You don't ask them. Are you willing to pay 100% of the costs of maintaining the female and raising the pups? It's a lot of money. How about a C-section? Will you pay for that? About $1600 the last time I paid for one, but that was 15 years ago, so I bet it costs more now.

look up Backyard Breeder- this is exactly what you are considering and it is so wrong on so many levels. Why don't you go to your local shelter and watch the thousands of dogs gassed every year---make that tens of thousands all around the country. You will likely be contributing to this suffering and ugliness.

To equate human sexuality with canine sexuality is ridiculous.

Are you wanting a pup because you love your boy so much that you want a puppy from him? Then go back to his breeder. Your dog will not produce a clone of himself. He will produce a pup that looks only a little like him and with a totally different personality. You might as well get a pup from a reputable breeder and save us all from another group of ill bred puppies hitting the streets.

I know a good few wonderfull yorkie breeders I could refer you to...but first we would need to know:
American kennel club (AKC) or Canadian Kennel Club?

any history of any of these in his 5gen pedigree (it wont be listed on the pedigree youd have to know from health testing/parental/generational research)
Anasarca
Carpal Subluxation
Cataracts
Chondrodysplasia
Collapsing Trachea
Color Dilution Alopecia
Cryptochordism
Cushing's Syndrome
Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca
Dysmyelination
Enchondromatosis
Fanconi's Syndrome
Heart Defects
Hernia
Hydrocephalus
Hypoglycemia
Hypothyroidism
Legg-Calve-Perthe's Disease
Kidneys (Polycystic
Liver Shunt
Pancreatitis
Pharyngeal Gag Reflex
Progressive Retinal Atrophy
Retinal Dysplasia
Seizures and Epilepsy
Shaker Dog Syndrome

we will also need his scores for (done at 2 yrs by specialist testing)
Hip: OFA, PennHip or equivalent
Eyes: OptiGen, CERF, or equivalent
Heart: OFA or equivalent
Thyroid: OFA or equivalent
Knees and Elbows: OFA or equivalent

also what kind of show titles does he have?
conformation?
agility?
earth dog?

and how about temperament testing?

would also need a picture of him in full show coat and his height and weight.
blush the height weight, health test results and confo titles of both his parents too...

once ive got all that info I should be able to put you intouch with some wonderful yorkie breeders whod love a good stud.

I have heard of this before, people that think their male dog must mate for his life to be complete, or that a female should have at least one litter of puppies in their life. This is not the case. Just because you have a purebred dog doesn't mean that it is of breeding quality or that it adds anything to the breed.
