Yes a number of times. About 3x as a kid, and now twice with GSP's. Also helped on my uncles farm with cows, and I've helped a friend down the road from when his cows were calving but that's a different story, lol.

Mine sleep on each other too, they love to have that connection.

Hope the birth goes well, can't wait to see the puppies.

Nice carpentry on the box.

Yeah it's a good sturdy box. 4x4 in dimension. We lucked out on the heating nest- our friend upgraded and sold us this one for $20 and two packages of local made bacon, lol. They are around $250-$300 new

Looks like tonight is the night. She's panting, then chills and shaking, her temp has dropped 1.5deg. and she is discharging lovely green 'stuff'.

I think we'll have pups by morning. Hope they all pull thru.

Rough night. Vet saw 4 when he checked her last week. She had 7 but 3 were stillborn. Very sad.

Hoping they latch well and feed. Pearls trying to figure it out.

Pearl's being cooperative but the pups still haven't organized enough to figure out the latch. We have to assist for now, and feed a supplement every 2 hours. 2 of the pups are average sized, 2 are smallish.

Our friend who owns the kennel where our dogs are from came over- we think we figured out why so many stillborn pups. One of the stillborn pups was a 'water baby'- the pup died in utero some time ago- it was partially decomposed. The other two stillborn were large and looked healthy. Our friend suspects the waterbaby may have contaminated those two pups, and may have caused the two smaller ones as well. We have to keep an eye on all of them, including Pearl for any signs of infection or distress. Our friend said she knew of one person that had an entire litter fail due to this condition, but had never happened to her.

We have a call into the vet to go over this, and possible put Pearl on a preventive antibiotic.

We're very happy to have 4 pups, but certainly very sad that 3 didn't make it. Of course for the next week it will be touch and go, and we're praying these pups figure out how to latch and soon.

Sad that three of the pups didn't make it. Fingers crossed the other four come through this fine!
