Earth can even support 100+ billion.

Bad traffic though.

Not yet they arent. Takes time. Look for population declines staring towards the turn of the next century, if nothing changes.

PS replacement level is 2,3 live births per woman over her reproductive life (on the average, of course).

Last time I looked, China's rate was 1.4, so look for China's population to decline drastically sooner than 2100.

Easy. Build up their economies. Wealthier people tend to reproduce at lower rates than poor people.

People haven't been "left alone" since civilization began. Since then it's all about persuading and manipulating the masses to do what you want them to do. Of course they are easier to persuade if they feel that they have a choice in the matter.

Could this all lead to a very slow motion Black Plague, when 1/3rd of population perished, and for one generation there were no low income people?

I did read that France was one of the countries, in low fertility Europe, which was having some success in increasing their fertility rates, but an expensive project, no less: free day care, lower taxes and free train tickets for the family.

I understand, through persistent efforts, Russia is having little success in increasing their population, which will make them heavily dependent on immigrants from the Middle East. I read that, if something isn't done in Russia, their population may shrink from 140M to 70M at some point in time. Russia, 3X larger than the U.S., all that land, and how to patrol it all? Well, at least they have their nukes!

As far as the excess or potentially abandoned housing expected, well, that would provide opportunities for people to have 2nd, 3rd or even 4th homes around the globe!

A $20k condo for sale in a rather empty condo building in Tokyo? Oh, alright! I'll spend a month or 2 over there, providing the condo isn't in a neighborhood with a lot of vacant commercial space!

As for China, with their one child families, that one child has been referred to as the Little Emperor of the family, spoiled rotten, overly-pampered, and do you really think you're going to find these little emperors working blue collar jobs, like putting Ipads together in a manufacturing plant? No way, Jose! They're going to want to be working a white collar job in one of those big office towers over there!

More lame resort to fallacies of equivocation. The two great human rights upon which the US was founded were freedom of conscience and the right to be left alone.

You have the choice of taking a cold shower. Might be something to consider.

No. And the world is not actually built from dull caricatures and stereotypes.

Is it "healthy" or is it for constant population.

Why is a declining population bad? Why assume it will go to zero? It would take decades if not centuries. It could go up again.

What is wrong with robots?
