you are right, vote with your wallet, just say no. you might be the only one but it is a vote.
when enough people vote the same way as you , the prices will drop until that point they will not. The real question is are you willing to vote with your wallet or not..

as to those talking about jobs, education etc that is all a sideshow.

This helpless trapped renter is BS.
I met a kid 23 years old. Grew up with parents addicted to drugs in a crappy city in Alabama. Worked for Chick Filet and became a manger. First thing he did was get a nice apartment. So now he's a renter.

He got interested in Real estate and started flipping houses. Moved out of the apartment and bought a crappy house and fixed it up while he lived there. He just quit his full time job at chick filet. He hasn't been mistake free, but has been motivated to keep learning. He has cash investors he got because he documented his flips, learned numbers, and can present a deal that shows how it will go and how much money will be made. He has successful projects.

The point is he was a renter and didn't sit on his butt. He was driven and if this guy could do it, so can others. A lot of people simply won't work that hard and just sit back and complain. They have every excuse in the world.
BTW this guy is married with 3 kids and is expecting a 4th.
People like this make me excited for the future of this country. Work hard, have aspirations, and not wait for someone else to support you.
Freemkt, you seem reasonably intelligent and able bodied. It's not easy, but I think if you changed your mindset you could get ahead in life. People with more burdens than you do it.

Saids who? The LL? the tenant has no choice because your the only place they can rent from. If they want to keep the job, they have to pay YOUR fee. Because you just realized your house is the only one on the market, your telling us that your up for the highest bidder for the lowest per sq of housing? Nothing changed other than the status que of the houses avalible.

Your are a voluntary renter via your life choices. Congratulations .

I know, I should have been born in 1951 so I could have bought a house for 30k in 1969 (adjusted for inflation that would be 200k or so) since they're 1 million now.

They are serfs only to someone with a severe persecution complex. It couldn't be their stupid choices that put them where they are, it has to be the system.
indeed, it's his stupid choices.

This demonstrates an incredibly shallow avenue of thought, embracing the assumption that the multitude of factors that go into creating the state of happiness can be easily boiled down to their status as a renter.
His whole life is defined as "I am a renter who has been screwed." That's his whole identity day and night and through his 32,000 posts here. If he'd use a small fraction of the time posting her to help himself, he'd be fine.

Frankly, it's sickening.
