What does that have to do with what Romney is proposing?
Having a strong military does not mean you have to use it. Strength can be a big deterent to war.
Having a strong economy and being a world economic power is going to do a lot more to make us the primary world player than playing "rah rah" with the military. I want someone with a workable plan to get us out of this economic mess--not someone who's trying to change the subject off jobs by taking us back to the "we're America and we'll kick your butt" type of patriotism that doesn't do anything but tick off the rest of the world and leaving us holding an empty bag. If we have the economy in place, we don't need to prove anything to anybody.
We're still in the middle of two wars, and we have been for 10 years. How much stronger does our military need to be? Are we better off today than we were ten years ago?

New wars you say? How about that one started by obama in Libya - the one that would take "days, not weeks", that is still raging MONTHS later?

It's expensive to run a global empire. What would any debt-conscious conservative think about this? Or who thinks that the role of our military should be national defense, not the projection of power as cop of the world?
If I may add : An extremely large number of proud American citizens are very familiar and quite comfortable with the "Formidable America" and or American Global Empire concept.
We grew up with this unique concept well in place as did our parents before us and so on and so on !
National Pride and an extremely formidable military has preserved this nation for quite a spell and will continue to do so as long as we as a nation have the resolve to maintain it !
Global Empire says robbo ..... Perhaps its time for the American people to get used to many different climates and the planting of their beautiful flag on many different continents ... God knows our brave soldiers have shed enough of their blood for others to allow us to practice our "Empire Building" !!!
