So in your mind, Romney is kowtowing to Netanyahu?
Seems more likely that his statement would appeal to ALL Israelis and not JUST Netanyahu.
Romney's been a big hit in Israel. People have been shouting that they'll vote for him (many Israelis are US citizens).
We don't know how they'd react to President Obama since he hasn't bothered to visit Israel.
In a word, yes, I do see it as pandering and kowtowing. Netanyahu is not overwhelmingly popular in Isreal, and of course there are Isreali - Americans that will vote for Romney.
What Romney said is playing into the "no compromises" peace plan of Netanyahu, and will set the peace process in the middle east back decades.
America, if it is truly committed to working towards peace in that region, cannot play both sides of the fence, and hurl insults at the Palestinians in a poorly planned, pandering statement.

Why does he need to visit Israel? They're getting a couple billion dollars from us (that they don't need)....we don't need to visit them. Our money visits them just fine.
If anything, they should be constantly visiting US to keep up appearances, not the other way around.
Romney, according to my measure for a politcian of his statue and a candidate for US presidency, is an idiot for stating things like that without knowning the possible far-reaching consequences.
That said, when was the last time US had a president that we all agreed was a a smart and culturally sensitive guy?
PS: that said, on a non-political level, I absolutely agree with Romney. it is all about culture and education that makes Israel stand out among its neighbors. its not a good or bad thing, its a fact... but saying it publically in the Middle East is plain moronic.
I agree about Israel too, and there is nothing wrong in praising them, but he should be left out the part where he points out that Palestinians are poor because of their culture.

Why did Obama visit Egypt when they get billions of dollars in our foreign aid?
This whole thing is taken WAAAY out of context. I found the entire story and no longer feel Romney made an embarrassment of himself. He meant their business culture. Seriously, what do Palestinians export or produce? Who were their leaders before Arafat? What is their capital city? He didn't say he wanted war with Iran and that he would continue with diplomatic tactics. Aggression would be a last resort....funny that Eric Schmidt says the Obama camp has said the same thing.
Its a statement about political ideology and their economy and society being dominated by corrupt political influences. No racism there. Just an inconvenient truth.
You can't please everyone liberals seem to have a problem with that.
