Many of the people working at the polls today are volunteers. They work long hours, with the public, sometimes dealing with long lines and impatient people. Their contribution is key to the ability of Americans to choose their leaders and to guide their government. Thank the people working those polls. It's the least we can do.
Eh...in my county they get paid about $9 an hour. Not a lot but still, they get paid.
But that is a good sentiment to pass around. I know our poll workers. There is always a problem with my name when I vote and usually they are the same people at the location every year (they are hired by our county by precinct for a few years at a time) and so they know me when they see me and know how to fix the problem with my name. So I do thank them as I am grateful I don't have to get all stereotypical black woman with them over voting as that and a couple other situations are probably the only times I will get stereotypical with people lol.
