I guess it's lucky they didn't land in rural Kentucky or some other American state with multiple counties below the poverty line and also, even today, no indoor plumbing, eh?

Get off your high horse with it's feet stuck firmly in clay.

This continued harping on "free" this and that illustrates complete ignorance of what it is that Sanders is proposing.
If there is no defense to keep us free our country will cease to exist. Not knowing that is complete ignorance. I hate to tell you this but our already collected taxes are owed to China. Education should be a personal thing. If you haven't noticed, national educational rules have dumbed down America. We spend more money per child for education but our results put our students in 30th place in results of that education. Maybe we need to go back to private schools where the parents choose how education is administered. Private schools teach.

Sanders is proposing taking the hard earned money my husband and I spent 50 years of conservative living to accumulate. I am well aware of what Sanders is proposing.

People who do not appreciate what a free country is probably haven't ever lived any other way. Maybe some of you need to listen to Rubio. His parents fled a communist dictatorship. He knows how to appreciate being free.

Rural areas used to have the highest poverty rates until inner cities surpassed that in 1975.

Explain this then:

Not building more tanks that will never be used will decimate our defense?

Binary thinking at its finest.

1999: Holder originates the "Too Big to Jail" concept regarding banks and financial institutions.

December 1, 2008 (in the midst of the financial crisis, no less): Obama announces Holder, an attorney from a prominent Wall Street legal defense firm, as his nominee for AG.

Either Bernie was too incompetent to know about any of that, or his representations of how he feels about Wall Street are completely disingenuous.

Spotlight fallacy.

Compare inner-city to suburban to rural. That gives a more complete picture of where poverty is systemic.

Well, well.

Salon says Hillary can't win. They predict Bernie is the only candidate that can defeat the GOP.

Hillary Clinton just can’t win: Democrats need to accept that only Bernie Sanders can defeat the GOP - Salon.com

Bernie Sanders is the only Democratic candidate capable of winning the White House in 2016. Please name the last person to win the presidency alongside an ongoing FBI investigation, negative favorability ratings, questions about character linked to continual flip-flops, a dubious money trail of donors, and the genuine contempt of the rival political party. In reality, Clinton is a liability to Democrats, and certainly not the person capable of ensuring liberal Supreme Court nominees and President Obama’s legacy.

They have good points on the problems with Hillary.

This is the most interesting election cycle in my lifetime. I look forward to seeing who are the two nominees, and possible Independent candidates, who are seeking the highest office later this year.

So there's no grey area for you between being the militarily excursionist country you've become, exerting force all over the planet, and being totally defenseless therefor by extension ceasing to exist? Even with all those nukes that pretty well preclude any other country attacking, invading you and attempting the impossible task of actually occupying the U.S.

This is just silly gotcha politics. There are many reasons to vote for something you dont think is perfect. Compromises are done all the time in Congress. Its like when Hillary brings up stuff Bernie voted for which he didnt believe in and fought hard against but not voting for it threatened to defund the whole government or defund billions of dollars of food aid to hungry seniors. Its like he cant win either way. If he compromises, that is bad, if he doesnt compromise, he is an ideologue who doesnt care about running the country.
