MCCAIN OFFERS PRAISE FOR OBAMA’S TROOP WITHDRAWAL TIMETABLE

McCain Offers Praise for Obama’s Troop Withdrawal Timetable - America’s Election HQ

John McCain said Friday he thinks Barack Obama’s proposed timetable for withdrawal in Iraq is on the right track, even though the Arizona senator spent the last week hammering Obama for his military plans.

Obama calls for a 16-month troop withdrawal timetable, something McCain called “politically expedient” during a forum in Denver, Colo., Friday.

But then in an interview with CNN, McCain had kind words.

“I think it’s a pretty good timetable, as we should — or horizons for withdrawal,” he added, echoing a phrase President Bush used in recent days. “But they have to be based on conditions on the ground.”

McCain has long maintained that conditions on the ground are a key consideration in any withdrawal of American troops. And he has argued that Obama would withdraw troops based on his timetable without regard to conditions in Iraq, although Obama says he would listen to U.S. military commanders about those conditions.

Obama, who is wrapping up his weeklong tour of the Middle East and Europe, said in London that “we are pleased to see that there has been some convergence around proposals that we’ve been making for a year-and-a-half.”

This is just stupid. They have the same foreign policy for Iraq. They want to stay there, but bring enough troops home to make us happy here.

Who said he did? The timeline, where do you think he got "16 months" from? Think he pulled it out of the air?

He researched, Sanrene. He did homework. He cared enough to spend time doing that.

There's no two ways about it, McCain has now flip flopped on his 100-years in Iraq promise. This is NOT small potatoes. He took that stand knowing he had to differentiate himself from the DEMs. Now, the DEMs were right and even Bush is moving to Obama's POV.

Advantage: Obama

Landslide Obama

The 16-month deadline has been his policy for over a year. It didn't just appear recently, you know.

His 16-month deadline would have got us out of IRaq in March of THIS YEAR.

At 6:20 in the video, he talks about his 16-month plan he PUT FORTH IN JAN 2007, to get the out by MArch 2008. In Jan 2007, the surge strategy was just starting.

Ah, how desperate we are to "forget" all that obama has said. To forget all his "words". They still matter, don't they?

According to Fox news McCain has now said he likes Obama 16 month plan.
That makes it 5 times McCain has changed his position on Iraq.
1. conditions on the ground plan
2. 100 year plan
3. 2013 plan
4. 2010 plan
5. 16 month plan

He didn't endorse a 16 month pullout. OR a 100 year war.

He did say any pullout must be conditions-based, some obama has never endorsed. The Iraqi's say the same - conditions based. It would be really nice in this could be done by the end of 2010, wouldn't it?

That's been the goal all along. Pull-out with success, which is "W"'s position and what McCain fought for in advocating so strongly for the surge.

Can't escape the FACT that if Obama had his way in Jan 2007, it would have been disaster. This is something that is so, so easy for the electorate to understand. And they will be reminded of Obama's "words" and position throughout this election. I think they can discern his horrible judgement all by themselves.

It doesn't matter what you say to them....reality is missing from their points of view. They have stars in their eyes.....that won't change no matter what video you show or how much truth is told.

I'd end with "be careful what ya wish for you might just get it"

Yes, but wouldn't you think that displaying just a little intellectual honesty would go far?

I don't get how so many can ignore even The One's own "words". I guess obama was wrong when he said "words" matter. Not even his own can sway the obamatized bots.
