"Timetables was the buzzword for those that wanted to get out," McCain scolded Romney at a Jan. 30 debate at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, Calif.
How the (time)tables have turned.
During a Friday interview with CNN, McCain called a 16-month withdrawal from Iraq "a pretty good timetable
I watched that interview. As usual, always based on conditions on the ground.
In case you haven't noticeed, we have been withdrawing troops and will withdraw more in the coming months.
The only reason this is possible now is because of the surge.
A pullout has been the goal all along, but only if warranted by ACTUAL conditions on the ground.
Simple - for those without BDS.
With all due respect, McCain has changed from possible 100 years, to 2013, to 2010 to now 16 months. this all in the last 3 months.
I know Iraq is getting better, but wether he was wrong then or he is wrong now?
He is the one who claimed he knew the surge would work, so he knew things on the ground would be better when he gave those longer time frames.
the man is struggling to keep up with himself

In a speech in Ohio in May, he declared that most American troops would be home by 2013. On Monday, in remarks at the side of the first President George Bush in Kennebunkport, Me., Mr. McCain embraced, if only in passing, the possibility of withdrawing most American troops by the end of 2010.
On Friday on CNN, under questioning by Wolf Blitzer, he called Mr. Obama’s 16-month proposal “a pretty good timetable.” But the McCain campaign declined to elaborate Friday night on whether this represented a change in his views.
"I watched that interview. As usual, always based on conditions on the ground....The only reason this is possible now is because of the surge....Simple - for those without BDS."
Yes - as Obama said, and said first: Based on conditions on the ground. This is possibly not nearly only because of the surge - the surge helped. Sorry, this is simply a fact. Just because you want something to be true doesn't make it true.
Simple for those with BDS, too! Simple for everyone, even you.
First Maliki now McCain are seeing the wisdom in Obama's timetable. Obama is a true leader, McCain is proving to be a follower.
Sorry, bud. If we would have followed obama's timeline we would have been out of Iraq in March 2008, leaving behind a civil war with the very real possibility of genocide.
He can't escape that fact.
It is apparent that any pullout is based on condition on the ground.
"W' has said this, McCain has said this, Maliki has said this, his generals have said this, our generals have said this.
He can run, but he can't hide from his dangerous, horrible judgement.
“Bush and Obama seem to be setting the foreign policy agenda, and McCain seems to be reacting,” said Kenneth M. Duberstein, a chief of staff to President Ronald Reagan.
Yes - as Obama said, and said first: Based on conditions on the ground.
Must I bring up ALL the videos and ALL the quotes from obama about his timeline? He never supported the surge. He put forth a timeline in 2007 that didn't factor in conditions.
