So getting public acceptance is atraight people protesting about "whatever" and throwing bricks, bottles etc. That is far more acceptable?

Well, imagine a whole parade and day of festivities featuring tens of thousands of those guys and then you get an idea of the disgust of which I'm describing. Thanks!

Gay pride parades are events celebrating that lifestyle...it is over the top celebration that has nothing to do with every day life. Just like people letting it hang out at Mardi Gras...they don't act like that every day. If you don't want to see naked guys in thongs, why are you attending the gay pride parade in the first place?

I have never attended one. But why should people have to avoid large sections of their own city so they don't have to see nudity and lewdness just to accommodate one, small special interest group?

Mardi Gras is one of the pre-Lenten festivals that is rooted in the celebrations that immediately preceded the discipline and fasting of Lent. That's the tradition and purpose. When people get out of hand, they are arrested. What exactly is the purpose of Gay Pride? And if the gay community is serious about promoting acceptance, aren't there FAR better way of accomplishing that?

Ah, so that's the purpose, huh? It's not really a football game. They only congregate there to show their bellies and demand acceptance for bearers of beer guts. And people are really cheering them, not the football teams.

I really do hope that this story about Sarah Palin "praying away gays" is false. In the 21st century there is no place for Homophobics. If the story is true then Palin should not even hold any Govt. Office let alone the VP of the USA. This is NOT Iran.

That's really sad.

Public acceptance starts with self-reflection and making the appropriate changes. That's just the way it is.
You might consider putting your philosophy into action. Maybe start with radical protesters outside health clinics waving graphic signs of fetuses and cuts of meat at women seeking medical attention, or those who bomb clinics. Certainly much of the anti-choice community disagrees with their methods. Just tell them what you said here- "Clean up your act!"

You might choose, instead, to address religious zealots who picket the funerals of fallen soldiers, claiming they must have been wicked for God to have struck them down. Clearly they don't speak for most Christians. Just tell them to clean up their act. I bet it'll work.

I think you're really onto something, teatime.......

#79 -- I don't support the actions you described, either. But you're changing the subject. This thread is about gays.
