1) Stress law and order and the Rule of Law for "everyone." Including the President and your own candidates.
2) Truly push for less Government. Stop rubberstamping government restictions on civil liberties and pushing for more Executive powers.
3) Get over trying to use the US Military to solve conflicts.
4) Go after corruption everywhere including your own candidates.
5) Before you talk about cutting taxes, balance the budget. Any adult would know to do this.
6) In order to do the above you need to tell the religious nuts and the authoritarians in your party to take a hike. (Like they are going to vote Democrat anyway?)
Unfortunately, the GOP will never "do the right thing", however ...
Here's another way the GOP can "rise again" - take over Redneckistan and agree to a no-fault divorce from the rest of the USA.
That would be a win-win for all of us.

Sounds good to me. I would add that it should apply to the Dems also.

1) stressing law and order means deporting illegal immigrants who are breaking the laws, getting undocumented mortgages and withdrawing money from their house and our country out first.
2) you are kidding, right? democrats represent the party of big government and big spending!
3) going into afghanistan and pakistan is not a reduction in united states military intervention
4) ACORN voter fraud and ACORN slush fund in the countryside bailout bill, sweetheart deal for warren buffett, major wall street backing, convicted felons buying your only house, etc.
5) putting your country further in debt does not balance the budget!! this may be the most important factor in this election. sponsoring a bill to forgive other countries debts does not balance the budget! the global poverty act does not balance the budget! driving business away does not help and we will have increases in unemployment. people need jobs to pay their bills!
6) religious people have a right to vote any way they choose, as do agnostics and atheists. it is ironic that a liberal advocates lack of tolerance within the party.
may i add that development of oil resources and natural gas expansion will be crucial to our country's income production. we cannot stay as a service economy any longer and we have to go back to manufacturing jobs for the people!

Plan being rushed to Congress; Treasury would get sweeping power
sheesh....and you were on a roll.....
once again, that is misinformation. the president cannot write a bill! congress writes the bills. the democrats sponsored every bailout bill.
countrywide bailout, chris dodd, democrat.
first 700 million bailout bill, charles rangel, democrat.
2nd passed bailout bill, patrick kennedy, democrat.
majority of house and senate democrat. leader of the house and senate, democrat.
"we will keep trying until we get this bill passed", nancy pelosi, democrat.

The first step to this renewal is a good old-fashioned shellacking in the upcoming elections, preferably with the contribution of a visible percentage of third-party votes.
Otherwise they would perceive little incentive and, in any case, the democrats will do everything possible, in their own interests, to prop them up.
2) you are kidding, right? democrats represent the party of big government and big spending!
You are kidding, right? Today, and for the last 8 years, the Republicans have been the party of big government and big spending (despite any spin you might put on it, the $700 billion Wall Street bailout was a Bush administration initiative). The Republicans used to be the party of small government, and if they can get back to that, they may have some success.

The White House today is drumming up extraordinary pressure on Congress to approve its plan to enact a $700 billion mortgage bailout fund, suggesting the markets cannot wait much longer and dispatching Vice President Cheney and other top officials up Pennsylvania Avenue to jawbone lawmakers
Cheney, White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten and presidential adviser Ed Gillespie are meeting this morning with House Republican conservatives, where a rebellion is brewing against the size and questionable free market credentials of the administration proposal.
Cheney will later gather with GOP Senators at the regular Tuesday lunch. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, who collaborated in drawing up the proposal, are testifying this morning on Capitol Hill in an effort to defend their handiwork.
But Bush himself continues to do little to explain his plan, and he has refused to be questioned about it.
