I have always thought that "Joe Six-Pack" was a very insulting term - all I can think of is some big fat guy sitting on the couch watching sports and drinking at least a six-pack of beer. Blech.

They could have used something like "Joe Smart Guy who drinks white wine at dinner".

Hubris, hubris, hubris...it usually gets you in the end. This was fated for the republicans, if they care to get it.

I think the Republican's only chance to get their party back to what it used to be would be to shift their positions on abortion and guns just enough to get rid of those radical fringe supporters.
Absolutely correct. The religious rightis destroying the Republican party. Now the guns they might be able to keep as long as they don't seem so nutty about them. The religion has to go. Every generation grows up believing more and more that religion has no place in politics. This is why younger generations are increasingly pro choice. I believe there was a group of people long ago that wanted religion out of government. They were called the "Founding Fathers".

If by out of touch you mean, "appologizing for America" which Joe the Plumber laments.

if by out of touch you mean repudiating the notion that protecting a living breathing human being that got here due to a botched abortion "violates the sanctity of Roe" (barak obama quote.)

if by out of touch you mean thinking that it makes perfect sesne to write a law stripping AMERICANS right to a secret ballot when it comes to voting on Unionization of their workplace.

the YES I AM OUT OF TOUCH.

And happily so.

I dont ever want to be IN TOUCH with your view of how things ought to be. I have a hard time believing Americans actually think like you.
