Yeah, I think it does surprise some people who belong to churches whose main spiritual missions are lobbying the government to deny gay people equal rights and women the right to choose, that Catholics are concerned with other things as well.

Like Jesus, they devote their energy more to concerning themselves with the poor and hungry and issues of war and peace.

This is so true. Where I live many white people get their impressions of black people from TV sitcoms and crime dramas, and news from the hellish cities. Naturally, based on their un-natural exposure, they're afraid.

I started to think about it and realize it will save me a lot of money. I send presents for graduation, weddings, babies, etc. When our family has these things, we get nothing from them at all.

Sometimes you have to realize that they may be relatives, but you have nothing in common with them. You have to wonder about Catholics that are voting for someone who is so pro-abortion. Talk about hypocrites!
Give me a break! Somone asks you not to spam them and now they are "like the people they vote for" ?? Another lie purported by you with no basis in fact.

So since you don't agree with their views and their wishes to not recieve spam email from you you are going to stop sending them presents for graduation, weddings, and babies. What a good Christian you are! You must be so proud!

I am sorry but anyone can ask anyone not to send them email they don't wish to recieve and you can do the same.

I have to admit when I read some of these comments I get really sad that there are such crazy people out there.

Some old white people just cannot fathom a black president, no matter how much he's on their side.
My Mom, who'd be 92 if she were alive, was that way; grew up in deep WV and came to Baltimore in 1941 to work in a war plant. Her generation grew up with racism as a national value, and a lot of that racism was based on fears that sprouted from lies. I remember sitting on a barstool as a teen, in the early 1960's, watching her serve cheap beers to local white truck drivers, but when a black guy came in and asked to be served, she had to tell him that carry-out was his only choice. Though she mellowed over the years, she died a few years ago, still basically distrustful and fearful of blacks.

It came back to me the other week. I was reading a newspaper account of an 86 year-old woman in WV who was quoted as saying that "if Obama wins they'll be a race war." Hah. A race war. Beyond idiotic, but I recall that same line from the 1960's, usually in response to vague dialog about "what blacks want" and what will happen "if blacks get power" and the answer back in the 1960's was the same, "blacks want a race war." The very old folks still cling to those fears, which in some twisted logic is their justification to keep being racist, and keep holding others back. Not this time.

My parents and relatives are from West Virginia. My relatives still feel that way to this day.

The other day we got one about how "he (meanin me-golfgod) is totally brainwashed, he's just helping the "N"s to take EVERYTHING FROM US and give it to the rest of the Ns and Mexi***s.

Yeap, "everything" is going to be taken from this yahoo. He works a low to mid-level civil service job, she barely graduated high school and IIRC has worked off and on in a coffee shop. Two of their 3 kids are not high earners either, an engineer (she does pretty well $) and a night auditor at a hotel and the third one whose career path reads like a college student's a different service type job every 5 months or so. I guess the kids think everything is going to the Ns and Ms. Like they would actually want any of the carp that these rednecks own.

I think some people are stuck in the '50s.

You're not alone. I've got family and friends like that.

I've severed relations with a sister who insists Obama is a socialist, doesn't support the troops, and all the rest of it. I called her on it, and that was it, I'm now as low as $hit to her. At this point, I consider it no loss.

I've got another family member, a BIL, who is always whining about how they give the N's this and they give the N's that, yadda yadda. So, who's the first guy in line for a handout; who's the first guy to sit on his ass and watch the Speed channel until his eyes melt; who's the first guy to work "off the books" so he can get around certain Social Security rules; who's the first guy to sit on his ass and let his wife support him; yeah, "that one" my BIL.

I've got pals who send those crap emails around, to a long list of pals in our railroad hobby. We used to hit the delete key, but in the last few weeks we've started refuting the lies and telling these guys to knock it off.

On the bright side, one of my great grandfathers lived in Richmond, VA. When the Civil War started he walked away from his wife and 8 kids, made his way to Washington, DC, and joined the Union Army. THAT is one relative I'm proud of.

Those emails have largely stopped now. Tomorrow we'll put the nails in that coffin and pi$$ off a lot of racists. Good.

I believe that overall, racism against black people in this country dwindles with each generation. This could be the first election where enough old racists have died off that we elect a black (or at least bi-racial) president.

We all love our family's, but there is often a certain sadness when seeing their racist attitudes and beliefs.

This is what I got from a stupid family member...I like how it basically says "I don't want to hear your opinion and don't dispute me". The thing is...this isn't OPINION..it's FLAT out false information (when you get to the part of saying Obama is Muslim) ::shakes head::

This is a matter of opinion and opinions are like (well you know) everybody has one.

My personal opinion? I agree.

If after reading this email you disagree, Please, no need to reply back to me. Your opinion is yours and that's fine, just delete it.
*******************************
A lot of Americans have become so insulated from reality that they imagine that America can suffer defeat without any inconvenience to themselves.

Pause a moment, reflect back.

These events are actual events from history..

They really happened!!!

Do you remember?

1. 1968 Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed by a Muslim male extremist.

2. In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by Muslim male extremists.

3. In 1979, the US embassy in Iran was taken over by Muslim male extremists.

4. During the 1980's a number of Americans were kidnapped in Lebanon by Muslim male extremists.

5. In 1983, the US Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by Muslim male extremists.

6. In 1985 the cruise ship Achille Lauro was hijacked and a 70 year old American passenger was murdered and thrown overboard in his wheelchair by Muslim male extremists.

7. In 1985 TWA flight 847 was hijacked at Athens , and a US Navy diver trying to rescue passengers was murdered by Muslim male extremists.

8. In 1988 , Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by Muslim male extremists.

9. In 1993 the World Trade Center was bombed the first time by Muslim male extremists.

10. In 1998, the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by Muslim male extremists.

11. On 9/11/01, four airliners were hijacked; two were used as missiles to take down the World Trade Centers and of the remaining two, one crashed into the US Pentagon and the other was diverted and crashed by the passengers. Thousands of people were killed by Muslim male extremists.

12. In 2002 the United States fought a war in Afghanistan against Muslim male extremists.

13. In 2002 reporter Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and murdered by-- you guessed it-- Muslim male extremists.

No, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you? So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people... Absolutely No Profiling!

They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males alone lest they be guilty of profiling.

According to The Book of Revelations:

The Anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal....the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, he will destroy everything.

And Now:
For the award winning Act of Stupidity Of all times the People of America want to elect, to the most Powerful position on the face of the Planet -- The Presidency of the United states of America .. A Male of Muslim descent who is the most extremely liberal Senator in Congress (in other words an extremist) and in his 40s.

Have the American People completely lost their Minds, or just their Power of Reason ???

I'm sorry but I refuse to take a chance on the 'unknown' candidate Obama...

Let's send this to as many people as we can so that the Gloria Aldreds and other stupid attorneys along with Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel ashamed of themselves -- if they have any such sense.

As the writer of the award winning story 'Forrest Gump' so aptly put it,
'Stupid Is As Stupid Does'[/CENTER]
