Yes, and why is it that almost no one seems to remember the Silverado debacle in which the Bush brothers--including George W--made off with millions of taxpayer dollars after its collapse.

Clinton is elected in the fall of 1992 and CC takes off. By Febraury of 1993, the public is aware that the tax reductions he promised in the campaign will be tax increases on individuals earning as little as $20K/yr. The numbers fall off in predictable fashion.

By MICHAEL KELLY,
Published: February 18, 1993

"In selling his economic plan, President Clinton is gambling that voters never took seriously his campaign promise to lower the tax burden of the middle class and will respond favorably to an aggressive pitch based on equal measures of hope, fear and class revenge."

CLINTON'S ECONOMIC PLAN: The Campaign; Gambling That a Tax-Cut Promise Was Not Taken Seriously - New York Times

"The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993 (or OBRA-93 Pub.L. 103-66, 107 Stat. 312, enacted August 10, 1993) was passed by the 103rd United States Congress and signed into law by President Bill Clinton."

Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

After the government is shut down in late 1995 and early 1996, consumers begin to put confidence in the Republican Congress's ability to overcome Clinton's opposition to the reforms promised in the Contract with America.

By February of 1996, CC begins to rise again and continues a positive trend through 2000.
You need to understand that the Obama supporters are interested in facts. They don't want to hear that the Democrats pushed these bad loans, resisted tighter regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac proposed by Republicans and yes even President Clinton. There are so many videos of Barney Frank and other Democrats saying that the Republicans were wrong in being concerned about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and claiming the that the big bad Republicans were just trying to eliminate the American dream from minorities and low income people. Too bad that some people are so blind that even the facts allude them. These are the dumb sheep that like the status quo in DC. These are the most ignorant of the voters. What a shame that we are experience the dumbing down of the American voter in such a dramatic fashion.

Do you have any idea how pathetic such desperate attempts to blame the Democrats for the last 8 years are? Any idea at all?

The people who voted for Bush, and then voted for McCain/Palin represent the "dumbing down of the American voter." Anybody who thought--or thinks--that Sarah Palin should be in line to be President of the United States is not dealing with a full deck.

Fair question here...................Can you concur that it took both the house and the senate and both sides of each aisle to have allowed this shameful debacle to have occurred?????

Even though the house and senate were repub majorities for a long while they still couldnt have done it just by them selves...............

When you look at various voting records that becomes obvious.

Hell, just this latest bank bail out, my Rep voted FOR the darn thing even after she was swamped with thousands of calls and emails yet out senator stood hard and fast against the bailout . They are both Repubs.........so go figure............

Desperate? The only desperation I feel is that we have a corrupt 2-party system and too many sheep unwilling to think before they pull the lever.

I am not a supporter of the Republican party either. They deserve whet they got. They left their roots, grew government even bigger than the Democrats. They fell to the temptations of corrupt DC. In other words they acted more like Democrats than Republicans.

As far as my post I was spot on and can prove it. The videos are out there all over the internet, Democrat after Democrat telling the public that there was nothing wrong with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The threatened lawsuits if banks refused to lower lending standards are part of public record. There is even a video of Clinton blaming the Democrats for resisting the effort of the Republicans and himself to put tighter regulations in place. I am not dumb enough to blame the Democrats for the last eight years just the bulk of the sub prime bubble/debacle and the collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It was the Democrats that pushed for lowering the standards, the Republicans that did not have the guts to stop it, the Democrats failing to act when there were problems and once again the Republicans for not having enough guts to force the issue.

If you have the guts just try this link. If you are a dumb sheep ignore it. I doubt you have the guts to view the videos because it would burst your bubble. It is truly pathetic that the media failed to expose the Democrats and the Republicans were too stupid to point out the obvious.

You conveniently leave out that it was a Republican Congress (led by Sen Phil Graham) who forced Clinton to sign a repeal of Glass-Stegal, and who later passed legislation to make all the 'derivative' type investments we all know are the biggest part of the problem (CDO, CDS...) available to banks, insurance companies, and investment banks - without any regulation or visibility - and as off-balance-sheet items...

Warren Buffet was right several years ago when he called derivatives 'financial weapons of mass destruction'... We are just now in the beginning of that mass destruction as the derivative positions around the world slowly unwind - at tremendous expense.

On what do you base this statement? In recent history Republicans have blown the Libs away in the presidential level. Every 8 years or so we forget how screwed up the liberal ideology is & let another half wit get elected. Then the liberal halfwit goes about trying the same shenanigans that got their party flushed last time around.
Obama will be no different.

You should know by now that most people have selective memories. It will be no different now as it was in the past with all of the partisan people out there.
