First Line from Original Post... "Why would an acting US president celebrate the day of Mexico's defense against an invading French Army?"
Yes, and by asking that, you are implying there is a set approach US presidents should have to non-American holidays. Not only that, but you weren't speaking in a historical sense, but a present one (Obama is the current president). Saying an "acting US president" is completely different from saying "some presidents" or something like that. So whether or not you intended to single out Obama, it will come off that way based on your wording.
The reason it is brought up that Bush did it, is because it is a traditional thing for the sitting President to celebrate. It's not a Bush v. Obama thing, it's a "Presidents just do this" thing.

That's an extreme stretch at best.
I could really care less what Jimmy Carter, Clinton or George H.W. Bush or George W. Bush does with their time now that they're not in office.
You're adding way too much into my statement to make this a partisan issue, because that's what you want. That's no different than saying that this is a racial issue, because I didn't post on city-data.com when a caucasion president celebrated Valentine's Day.
I don't want or try to make it into anything. If you think I take a topic like this that seriously, you are deluded.
8 replies thus far would indicate that you're not taking it lightly.
