It's funny how people don't seem to notice when Bush celebrates these holidays that are not "American".

This isn't a partisan issue. Using the "Well Bush did it too" defense doesn't hold mustard. The Bush administration squandered billions upon billions of dollars of tax payer money, and that doesn't justify Obama doing the same.

I openly admit that I, as the OP, had a misguided understanding of what Cinco de Mayo represents. I was under the ill-advised understanding that it was the celebration of military accomplishment by Mexico over the French in 1862. I now understand that it a celebration of Freedom of the Americas from European oppression, and that it is more widely accepted as a Hispanic-American holiday than a Mexican national holiday.

It does if you didn't complain back when he celebrated it in office.

And the Chicas de Mayo

That's quite the assumption...

How would you know if I ever complained of past president's celebration of holidays? I wasn't aware that you followed me through everyday life, while listening in on private conversations.

Perhaps I'm so energized by President Obama's administration, that I'm only now taking regular stock in the actions of the office of the president.

It's common knowledge that many US presidents (regardless of party) have celebrated dozens of non-American holidays, so the fact you would point at Obama when he is far from the first to do it is simply ridiculous.
