I see it as totally unnecessary, mild mutilation and should be illegal except for medical reasons.
Luckily this practice is nonexistent in this country and seen as aggravated assault if done for other than medical reasons. 80% of the population also is against this practice.

Finland also doesn't get as many Muslims as other Euro nations. Honestly, even if the Muslims parents insist on it you should keep it illegal.
I guess it's seen as unnecessary.. 15.8% of men in the UK are circumcised, and around 3.8% of boys are circumcised by 15, for medical reasons (very rarely for religious purposes) (2000). The number is still higher than desired, and is blamed on a misdiagnosis of phimosis.
What does this have to do with anything? No nation in Europe has a large muslim population enough to affect opinions on a larger scale.
It does in many areas. Which would obviously raise the question, if circumcision for religious/cosmetic reasons is banned, won't Muslims be protesting to be allowed to have it because of their religion? Similar to the hijab debate, although wearing a hijab is different from permanently losing a part of your body.

What percentage of those are Muslims? I know the UK has a sizeable population of Muslims mostly from Pakistan and Bangladesh and NW India.

German courts ruled that circumcision of minors is assault ("Körperverletzung"). As a result Muslims protested against those rulings. The Bundestag then introduced § 1631d BGB, which basically makes an exemption and allows circumcision without the consent of the minor.
Personally, I think the Right to Bodily Integrity of the minor should be more important than the Freedom of Religion of the parents. Then again, there are more important things to worry about...

According to the Quran, God created Man as perfect, so there's no need for circumcision, but it's more of a cultural thing. Only a minority of European muslims are circumcised. The others may protest as much as they like, won't change the legislation.
