I wonder if Conchita would have been the winner without beard, probably not, the song in my opinion was not good.
But I prefer this kind of popularity to win better than political voting. Eurovision is not a music quality contest any more.

The beard won, not Conchita. I think the judges were more voting against Russia than for Conchita.

Conchita has a good voice but I hated that song. Too boring and melodramatic.

The voting is ridiculous, all countries voting for their neighbors. I bet Russia told Belarus that if they didn't vote for them they would invade them.

Western European countries did crap. It was the easterm countries that were doing the political voting.
