There are only two reasons to live there: Having lot of fun nightlife if you are young, or having your own tourist-oriented business if you are adult.

Young Spaniard guys like to go there just to flirt and pick up Dutch, Belgian or German girls, or wathever they come from. Same for young Spaniard girls to a lesser degree.

When it comes to relax on the Catalonian beachs we don't go to Lloret de Mar, but somewhere else.

Where are you from in Spain? Because I have only hear this from people from Castilla.
Spanish who live on the coast avoid those places during the summer.

Yeah, that's true. Most people from Castilla, Madrid and other provinces located inland go every summer to the coast, maybe one or two times per year.
I'm from Segovia, a northern Castilian province.
