They say that the land was God
They say that he taught good
And we have a whole platoon died
Where he served as a petty officer, my friend
He now is not living
And yesterday, I managed to say
"Oh, how I want the brothers to live
Oh, how terrible to die here"

Ah, Alyosha, you're my buddy
Bully, fatherless
Recovering does not equal fight
Yes for Ryazan Tambov region
For the better half of the country lies
Where one reason to steal
"Oh, how I want the brothers to live
Oh, how terrible to die here"

I'll take they alcohol
Let pour for the soul of the
May his Callsign stores
The silence of age-old peaks
He is flying home tonight
There he will be buried, the mother
"Oh, how I want the brothers to live
Oh, how terrible to die here"

About him not writing books
And released cool movie
As Aleshkin farewell Creek
Have karabal openwork ranks
Only Russia, the cornflower in the rye
There will be a funeral feast for him to celebrate
"Oh, how I want the brothers to live
Oh, how terrible to die here"

Time to go Home

In the evenings sadness finds us sometimes, sometimes
The Heart aches, and just wants to go home, go home

Wind is blowing over the barracks
The tracks of our armoured carrier are rattling
Home, its time to go home

The wind will be howling over the barracks
The tracks of our armoured carrier will be rattling
Home, its time to go home

Its better for the young ones to love, not to fight and kill
To hold a young girl's hand instead of a rifle's handrail
The shrill whistling of the bullets
My kalashnikov is rattling contemptuously
And i just spit, spit on everything
The shrill whistling of the bullets
My kalashnikov is rattling contemptuously
And i just spit, spit on everything

We boys again hope that this will be the last skirmish
All waiting for the order to go home, go home
The doves will be cooing happily
And the air will taste so sweet
Home, its time to go home
The doves will be cooing happily
And the air will taste so sweet
Home, its time to go home

The morning sun will shine cheerfully over the mountain
Finally we'll meet with our brothers and family again

The sun will send a sunray
The willow tree will wave her tender twigs
Home, its time to go home.
The sun will send a sunray
The willow tree will wave her tender twigs
Home, its time to go home.

Russian way

On weeping land, no sound of boots,
Our bloodless squad walk away from the enemies.
Eating on the go sorrel sheet,
Spending the night in the gully under the viburnum bush.

We can not relax - run, and run, and run.
And our supposedly friends sat down behind the borderline.
And look how beat us, never taking his eyes
And only the long ways completely are for us.

Wipe your tears, get some rest, I am Russian road.
Stay off and I'll cover you, yeah mud and water too...

We are deep in the mud, in water up to the eyes
After some time of enemies overtook again us.
And the beat even more strongly, on the verge and assassinate.
But severe frosts to the rescue hasten us.

Wait, wipe your these tears.
We are Russian frosts.
Freeze up to notice the sorrow,
Beckoning the Moscow.

The nature at the war, for us like a native ma'
But there is time to skulk, and there is time to attack.
And soon we showed up in towns of the foes.
And we destroyed everything back, smashed to smithereens.

Broke them into pieces, and beaten to a pulp
And last, we're explained to the moaned enemies:
Remember our russian mysterious tactic –
– it means we go forward ! Even when we retreat.

With the cold weather and forests,
and Susanin go first.
We just willed by God Russian Path.
Russian Path, Russian Path, Russian Path.

Song from the eponymous film about the war, based on the novel by V. Panova's "Satellites"
Music: V. Basner lyrics: B. Vakhtin and P. Fomenko 1975.

- Sister, you remember from the battle
You have carried me to the medical battalion?
- Alive with you
At that time, my comrade and brother.

For the rest of your life
We have enough feats and fame
Victory over the enemy bloody
For the rest of your life
For the rest of your life

Burned the Dnieper, Neva and Volga
Burned the sky and fields...
One problem, one alarm
One destiny, one earth

For the rest of your life
We have enough grief and sorrow,
Where those we have lost
For the rest of your life
For the rest of your life.

Sister and brother Mutual faith...
We were doubly strong
We went to the love and mercy
In the unmerciful war

For the rest of your life
Remember the brotherhood front
As Testament Holy
For the rest of your life...
For the rest of your life.

For the rest of your life
Remember the brotherhood front
As Testament Holy
For the rest of your life...
For the rest of your life.

What does "Hot Dog" mean?

In Russian, this phrase has clear meaning "Горячий, собака!" ("dog" can be a swear word sometimes). Does English have something like this?

As far as I'm aware a "hot dog" in English is a sausage in a bun with mustard. I can also be something you exclaim in delight, or it could mean somebody being a show off. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by your Russian phrase, I'm not so good with the slang/swear words, but you can call someone a mad dog? But it's not necessarily offensive or rude.

Yes, I incorrectly wrote. In Russia, English word "Hot Dog" also means sausages in bun, Russian language has borrowed this word from English. But I wonder why "hot dog" in English? I read that this can be translation of the Russian expression, which has settled down in English. Is it similar to the truth?

In Russian, "mad dog" has a somewhat negative connotation.

"Dog" as an insult exists mostly in Eastern Slav and Balkan countries.

It seems that this is due to the mysticism of ancient Indo-Europeans. The Slavic languages (for example, Russian is very archaic languages) simply preserved this layer of Indo-Europeans language.

A dog in Russia is not considered a bad animal, but "dog" is used as curse.
+ And the phrase "hot, dog!" could well have sounded in Russian, if a person get burnt on bun and sausage.
