That is tip to tip. Now get the central point of Europe's land mass because Europe unlike the USA or Australia is not a solid block. That can be said to be the middle point. BTW, the central point of Great Britain is around Preston Lancaster. Which is not the mid point of tip to tip. Studies differ. Some put it at 48 degrees, in Hungary. That south of the British Isles.
The large water bodies would have to be excluded, like the Baltic Sea.
Landmass hasn't got anything to do with geographical terms, if it did then the equator (the worlds north / south divide) would be further 'North'! you do realise that a large portion of the worlds landmass is in the northern hemisphere?
The UK is clearly in western Europe as it is west of the mid-point. The vast majority of it, by your info, is north of the mid-point, so in Northern Europe. Probably why the UN put the UK in Northern Europe. Clearly in North West Europe.
If you go by population density, as not many live above the latitude of Stockholm, then the UK is firmly in Northern Europe.
There's no such thing as ''Central Europe''. I'm Polish and I consider my country as a part of Eastern Europe.
Most of Poles prefers ''Central Europe'' only because they have complexes towards the West.
But Poland is Eastern Europe without no doubt. We have Eastern way of life and Eastern mentality.
True!
