It is true you can see some Celtic influence.

@Neuling As I have posted before I was born on Pico island in the Azores. I have been investigating for years which which region in Portugal most of our settlers were from the few written records and the DNA points to Porto. However I see no similarity in the traditions. A separation of 400-500 years does make a difference as well as the incorporation of people from various regions of Portugal and other islands of the Azores over the centuries.

Chamarrita dance, Pico island Azores. Completely different than the one from Terceira island in the Azores.

I like the sound of the bagpipe and the the cultures found in the Isles seem interesting and somewhat "exotic" to me I like the different accents.

Here's another one of those Celtic pagan traditions from the same region possibly 3,000 years in Portugal. It was used to ward off evil spirits.
