Reading things like that makes me feel ashamed to be a woman.

How about you give us some facts claiming men and women are so different? Oh wait, you can't
It is very natural.

Some jobs are done better by women and some are by men.

It is called "division of labor".

Very simple concept to grasp to be honest.

For example US Army will probably lower standards.

General's 'greatest fear' that military might lower standards for women - Marine Corps - Stripes

So obviously there are some things women are not able to perform as well, right??

Why would that be bigotry??

All these reactions are so childish i'm just laughing at y'all.

I don't know why woman should be unfit for an office job like that. We had someone who weasled himself out of military service as a minister of defence. Now, that's a bit worrying in my humble opinion.

For all the people claiming that the differences between male and female are minuscule or nonexistent, has any of you been in a relationship with the opposite sex, like ever?

It is a fact that men and women in general are better at different fields, they also use different parts of their brains when completing the same exact tasks, which in return yields in different results.

The hardwired difference between male and female brains could explain why men are 'better at map reading' | Lifestyle | The Independent

The researchers believe the physical differences between the two sexes in the way the brain is hardwired could play an important role in understanding why men are in general better at spatial tasks involving muscle control while women are better at verbal tasks involving memory and intuition.

Psychological testing has consistently indicated a significant difference between the sexes in the ability to perform various mental tasks, with men outperforming women in some tests and women outperforming men in others. Now there seems to be a physical explanation, scientists said.

“These maps show us a stark difference - and complementarity - in the architecture of the human brain that helps to provide a potential neural basis as to why men excel at certain tasks, and women at others,†said Ragini Verma, professor of radiology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

“What we've identified is that, when looked at in groups, there are connections in the brain that are hardwired differently in men and women. Functional tests have already shown that when they carry out certain tasks, men and women engage different parts of the brain,†Professor Verma said.

That's only a predisposition which can be overcome, either by natural predisposition or training, because in case you didn't know it, the brain has a lot of plasticity, which is why you can extirpate a good chunk of the brain and the younger a person is, the more chances he can re-learn whatever it is they lost because you will relocate any lost functions.
This plasticity is especially true during childhood, a time when we start learning our assigned gender roles and educative differences abound.

The reason why men and women are different isn't because 'assigned gender roles' in the childhood, they are different by nature.

I am well aware of the fact that testosterone changes the male brain right at gestation, when the Y chromosome activates and your gender starts specializing.

But like I said, those can be overcome. And we're not all born equal, biology isn't clockwork.

We've had females and males released from conscription as ministers of defence, and I don't see what's the issue. They are bureaucrats and administrators handling the ministry and work according the policy of the government. Ministers of defence aren't moving troops on the ground in a crisis. That's the duty of the generals and admirals. Being a minister of finance doesn't demand that you're an master of finance or being a minister of law a law degree, so why would the minister of defence need to have a military education? Additionally, active military personnel in Finland aren't allowed in the government or even being a candidate for any political post, it would be against the law anyway.
