I can't tell you how many times I have hauled a carful of teens up to the high school for us to run the bleachers after work. All the way up through high school, fitness was something my son and his buddies grew up with. And I take pride in being a part of that. Summer camp?? LOL!

~~ The same deal our kids were not allowed to park in front of the TV and zone out, instead our children rode their bikes while I ran, it was something we did as family time while they were growing up, as the became teens they ran along side me...Plus it gave them extra burst they needed to focus and do homework/ household choirs and their thinking was clearer, they slept better as well!

I am pretty sure this has to be a joke. Working out/running is just another part of a person's day that can be fit in when convenient. I have had to adjust my working out over the years during all the different stages of my family life. It is in no way a trait of a lazy person.

Exactly. I don't even have cable tv. My son never even missed as we were always so busy doing stuff - homework, cleaning, cooking, yardwork, running or biking outside. I don't know how people find the time to watch so much TV!

I just came in to cool off. This is my day off, and I am cleaning the gutters. Gonna go for a run once it cools down.

I noticed how many folks use the word "I" in their response, It makes me feel good, it makes me feel healthy, it is good for me. Lot of concerns only about themselves.

I also find it funny people think I am out of shape. I actually, never have spent a night in a hospital, am on no medicine, every year at physical it comes back all normal and last time I called in sick to work was in 1991 when I had the flu. I have not been sick or injured in almost 25 years. Meanwhile my neighbor with lawn service, a maid and pool service who works from home who is my age had both knees replaced after 25 years of jogging.

Mowing your own lawn is the same exact cardio work out as going to the gym,
Cleaning out your garage is also same thing, donating time to go to Ronald McDonald House or a school event where I set up chairs is also a lot of work as well as painting my house and walking instead of driving everywhere. My neighbor would of had a happier wife and kids if he did work around house rather than jogging to get our of work and losing his knees.

Btw Coach Potatoes live longer than folks who jog a lot.

"strenuous joggers died at twice the rate of those who sat around doing nothing.

The reason may be quite simple: "[Strenuous] jogging corresponds to very heavy vigorous exercise ... which when performed for decades could pose health risks," especially to the cardiovascular system, the authors write. They argue that while that sort of jogging might help reach peak physical fitness in the short term, high-intensity, high-volume training isn't ideal for long-term health".

I quote Mistym in the 78th post of this thread: "This is such a stupid post".

I think most people with more than an 8th grade level of education and world knowledge would put their cardiovascular health in the hands of exercise and fitness as opposed to putting their cardio health in the hands of polish sausages, sweet tea, obesity, and sitting around of the sofa getting fat while watching SoA.

I, I, I, Doing things for yourself is not selfish. I said this earlier it's called self care. Exercising makes me feel good physically and mentally, because of that I'm a better, happier, person who can do more for everyone else in my life.

Also many couples and even families exercise together! Grab your wife and your kids and go for a walk in the evening. Boom exercise and family time. Problem solved.

You do know people do more than just jog as exercise right? Is it just jogging you have an issue with? What if a parent does weekly poker nights and they leave their spouse and kids at home. It's not jogging so is that okay with you?

Only people who jog in their sleep are lazy.
