Do you talk a lot at the gym? Or do you tend to zone out to your surroundings?
I'm one of those people who can't hold a conversation because I'll completely lose focus. I know people who are just the opposite and get bored to tears if they aren't mingling.
No. But I do not turn people away who say hello. I do so myself as regulars know each other. Extended conversation is impossible because you need to focus. Did have women ask me how to do this or that and will take the time to explain. Same with Seniors who initiate comm.
I had my first extended conversation in a while yesterday with a regular who was spotting me while he waited for me to finish. Last about 30 seconds. Dealt with bench press form and techniques.
I used to not talk to anyone, but after seeing the same people for over a year I started to make friends. We say hello, chat, or nod hello depending on what level of exercising we are doing. We are all respectful of each others time and workout so no one interferes.
After 8 years at this gym I love having so many friends. It motivates me to go even more.
Not even in the slightest. I'm there to get done what I need to and GTFO. If someone has a question, needs a spot...etc, I have no problem helping them out briefly but generally I want to get my workout done as fast as possible.
This is one area where I am happy to have been born with a resting scowl face. I put my headphones on and get to work. Once I'm "in the zone" I tend not to notice or pay attention to anything but my workout.
I do not. I'm there to get through my routine and get out. If someone strikes up a conversation I'm fine with that but, usually have my headphones on so folks don't usually have the opportunity. Some folks like to hang out, socialize and stay for hours. My goal is to get in, work out, and get out in an hour and 15 minutes.
I don't talk to anyone. I'm not there to socialize, I'm there to work out! Besides I have a bytch resting face so no one bothers me anyways
