No, it doesn't. The prices have become so outrageous that people are starting to purchase the disposable razors over the blade refills. I've already seen a huge decline in the blades that are stocked in the stores. I think that eventually, this will have to have an impact.

The high cost of disposable razor cartridges at Clever Dude Personal Finance and Money

how-to-shave-costs-on-razors: Personal Finance News from Yahoo! Finance

There are tons of articles on the internet voicing this same complaint. The only way to get their attention, is to stop buying them.
I bought one of the large packs of Mach3 Turbo refills at Costco about a year ago, or maybe a little more. It cost $34.00 then. I went to buy a pack last week, but they the same pack now costs $47.00. They were expensive to begin with. Now the pricing is headed towards being cost-prohibitive.

Right. So at some point in the future Gillette's profit margin will have to come down. So their strategy is to set the price at what the market will bear (a common strategy among luxury items), to compensate for lower profit margins in the future. This strategy is based on business economic theory. The idea is to maximize the spread to increase return on investment. How does that not make sense?

Wouldn't you want to maximize your return on investments?

Rookies ...buy the cheap twin blades, shave in the shower using nothing more then rubbing the bar of soap on your face instead of worthless shaving cream, and shave. Best shave ever.

it's funny that the cartridges are behind lock & key in some drug stores now

I think I'm going to make the switch over and try DE/Wet shaving with a safety razor .... if it goes well i'll have to scour my grandmothers house to see if I can find my grandfathers old one, I remember seeing it growing up

Then you are just spending extra money on water down the drain.

Whatever happened to guys using the straight razors? You buy them once and sharpen them yourself. I knew a guy who used one - it was his grandfather's, he inherited it - and his face was always really smooth. He never had to buy blades or razors ever.

Anything called a Mach3 Turbo that isn't motorized is an exercise in fantasy.

Switch to Bic disposables. Use the money you save to buy a motorcycle. Watch your life change for the better.

I tried Bic disposables. They didn't work out for me.

The problem is everyone's skin is a little different. What works well for one person may not work for someone else.

I have one straight edge... but it got annoying because I travel a lot.
