I've bought the Mach 3 refill cartridges for years now, but can't get over why they are so expensive and getting more so over the years.
Are they made of something really valuable or is Gillette just greedy?
Just greed, I am sure. Wages increase, other stuff goes up in price, too.
Sad thing is that they charge like 8 bucks for 3 replacement razor cartridges but they probably only cost .25 to make. Makes me glad that I only
need to shave every other day or two, otherwise I'd be replacing blades a LOT.

Yeah, I am very cheap and it kills me to buy razor blades. I have tried the cheapo store brand...........but, youch, them things don't cut worth a crap and kill my face.

I have also gotten in the habit of shaving every other day too. Another thread mentioned that it's a good idea to DRY the blades with towel when you are done shaving. The blade will last longer, it says.
I personally use the Bump Fighter Disposable Razors. I get a 4 pack for $2.99 on the internet. I usually get enough to last me for an entire month so I don't have to continuously reorder. I use them once and then throw them away, as I spend no more than $20 a month on them. It's also healthier for your skin to use a new razor each time you shave, as they can hold bacteria. The razors I use were designed for African American men as they have thicker skin. I am not African American, but find that the razors perform very well and NEVER leave any after shave bumps.

That's.. pretty wasteful, actually. Your facial hair grows so thick that you go through a new blade each day?
I have the Schick Quattro or whatever and I just use an old toothbrush and warm water to get the hair out from between the blades.
Well, I shave pretty much every day and I do prefer to use a new razor for hygienic purposes. To me it's not wasteful at all. Although, I'm sure some feel that it would be.

yep, and that's why the mach 3 costs so much. a few years ago i bought some cheap k-mart brand that had 3 or 4 blades, and it was terrible. i'll never do that again.
Advertising mainly. Not that advertising is so expensive but it hikes demand so men are willing to pay a lot. There are some good store brands, keep looking.
