But I bet it's not as much as the other way... Women just have other factors than weight they weigh more heavily. Almost all women would never date a guy who was unemployed, but there's not that much stigma against a women being unemployed or working at a mediocre or worse job. Not that I entirely blame them -- most men self-implode when they are out of work. But I wouldn't go championing women and chastising men because only men have shallow, selfish criteria that's a deal breaker. The criteria are just different is all.

Expecting more out of a partner than you bring to the table is not exclusively the domain of either gender. It's a person-to-person thing. Lots of people, male and female, think they "deserve" a partner who is, quite frankly out of their league in one way or another.

I suspect it should be both, otherwise you'd be talking about angles, not curves)))))

Would you consider Marilyn curvy? By todays standards, maybe not. She was 5'5" and weighed 128 lbs. Her measurements were 36-24-36. In 50s sizing she was a size 12 or 14. Curvy size, right? Not so fast. In today sizing, she would be a 4 or 6. SKINNY.

Times change and so does the world's criteria for what is skinny or "curvy". The sizing, and apparently ATTITUDE, have changed since the 50s.

BTW, I am an old lady so I have been around long enough to have seen this change in the garment industry, and change of attitude. In the 60s when I was in my 20s I was 5'1" and 100 lbs. and wore a size 5. I am still the same height and weight. Yep, the same weight, yet in today's world, I am a size 1 or 0, not just skinny, but EMACIATED according to some people. Well, I cannot speak for those young thing, 5'10" runway models, but I have managed at 100 lbs (other than a 9 month pregnant weight of 127) to have lived this long, had and nursed 2 children, and attained Seniorhood.

You know what, if you are HEALTHY, be happy with who you are! That is all that really matters. Some day you will look back on all this, and say, it was much ado about nothing; skinny, curves, apples, or pears.

Heck yes; today, yesterday or tomorrow - doesn't matter))))

( Thank you for reminding of a perfect example))))

PS. Have a look at this thread please-
//www.city-data.com/forum/fashi...-clothing.html

Today's 4 or 6 is really most likely 8, so she was fitting into definition "curvy" all right))))

I don't quite understand your aggression. You're never going to have the traits to please every man, so why get upset that some guys don't like fat women? Of course there are men who like fat women and of course the boys you have dated haven't had a problem with your figure or they wouldn't have dated you in the first place (unless your size is a recent development).

So why say over and over that smaller women are stupid, shapeless twigs that need to eat a cheeseburger? There seems to be a general agreement that curves are all about shape and very little about size but you maintain that you are the only example of curviness thus far presented.
I just have always thought of myself as thick, voluptuous etc. But I think skinny women are just as bad when degrading fat woman, if not worse. People in general(almost always skinny people) seem to have a problem with fat woman who feel good about themselves just my opinions and observations.

PS. PS. Now when I think about it, Hollywood/European cinema's of what? 50ies-60ies, Gina Lollobrigida and Sophia Loren would fit into the same category as M. Monroe;

Rita Hayworth and Grace Kelly probably not so much, as beautiful as they were...

We are not "used" to seeing obese people. Look on TV newscasters, reality shows, etc most of those people are NOT fat.

Sometime, somewhere some little obese girl is going to read this and get upset, and which some of you people seem to like that fact.

I am not talking about newscasters, actresses, or people who are paid to look a certain way. They make up a small percentage of American people. I am talking about the average American that you see at Walmart or at work. Or walking down the street, or the grocery store.

And I have seen overweight newscasters, at least on local news.

And with 33% of American adults obese (not just overweight), can you honestly tell me that seeing an obese person is a rare thing?

And if by chance an obese girl reads this and gets upset, my response is: Perhaps that will inspire her to DO something about her situation instead of using your method and making excuse after excuse.

To be honest, this and all threads/posts like it are just "beating a dead horse" as everyone has his/her own opinion about what curvy, fat, voluptuous, obese, skinny is and not one of you will change your minds about what you think about each as you are either defending yourselves or your "obsessions" or just seem to want validation.

And with that said:
1. Curvy means having a definite bust, waist, hip ratio no matter what the weight and that is the hourglass shape. One can be overweight or thin as long as you have that ratio. BUT those women who are morbidly obese and need to lose close to 100lbs are fooling themselves to think that they have this. You are using curvy and voluptuous as euphemisms to defend your weight.
File:Bodyshapes.svg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

2. America DOES have an obesity problem as do more and more other countries. This is due to our eating habits, becoming more sedentary and also really due to our "nature" deficit.

3. Being overweigh will affect your health eventually.

4. Some men prefer larger women.

5. A few men prefer morbidly obese women.

6. Some men detest larger women.

7. A few men detest morbidly obese women.

8. Some women are catty and need to put down others to feel good about themselves.

9. Women who are overweight/obese are not going to change until they want to change and no amount of harassing, derogatory comments or put-downs will make them do that....and some may not even want to, for look at all the BBW worship groups out there.

AND.....
10. Marilyn Monroe did NOT wear a 14 in today's vanity sizing like some have already brought up, but some refuse to believe and still tout that she did.

SO STOP ALL READY!!!!!

PS I am not trying to be sanctimonious here just trying to be objective, as I just am tired of reading the SOS with no real help or insight to the OP as you get side-tracked with your "agendas" and the thread eventually gets closed.
