Yes. I have a pair of black jeans that I've been wearing a lot lately, and it's finally getting frayed. A few dresses, styles that don't look 'dated'. But I have some pieces older than the 90's.
My favorite item from the 90's was a Christmas gift from my daughters. A long fleece robe from the Disney Store with Mickey patch. I have worn, and washed, this robe for decades all Winters long. Still nice, warm and cozy. Very good quality.
I have a pair of vintage Calvin Klein jeans that I love but they're flared and are a little big on me at this point so I really don't wear them. Not giving them away though.
I actually have a J. Crew (back when they were just mail order) reversible sweater I have had since probably 92-93 that I still wear around the house doing DIY stuff. Has some paint stains and a few rips at the hem but I like it. It's older than my 27 yr old daughter.
Yes, a butter soft suede blazer from Golden Bear Sportswear on Howard St in San Francisco that's probably 25 years old. It's as gorgeous as the day I received it as a Christmas gift from my spouse. Unfortunately, Golden Bear no longer offers women's apparel; otherwise, I'd be a repeat customer.
Yeah I mean clothing trends isn't really that much different than it was in the late 90s. Things haven't changed much in the last 30 years honestly. Just not as baggy now perhaps?
I have a few Eileen Fisher outfits that I bought on sale a very long time ago. One is what I tend to wear to funerals, especially since they tend to be up north where it’s cold. It consists of a wool knit jacket and pants, and a silk top, all in a dark purple color. It fits me no matter how fat or thin and it always looks put together. The other thing is a black sleeveless dress that always looks good, dressed up or down.
Well does anyone have clothing from these decades that is still wearable without sticking out? I'm almost completely a jeans/polo/t-shirt/gym shorts/cargo shorts/sweatshirt/hoodie type of person and I don't think anything about wearing a pair of Levi's that were bought in the 90s. I also wear a lot of my brother's t-shirts from 90s. IMO, a polo is a polo as long as it fits. I have button down collar shirts from the 90s that I still wear with the sleeves rolled up. Gym shorts and hoodies never seem to go out of style. Heck, even shoes from the 90s-'00s still look ok to me (boots, sneakers (Air Max, Jordans, Pennys, etc etc etc).
When will all this stuff be too out of style to wear without looking crazy? A lot of stuff that's used to describe 70s and 80s fashion would definitely stand out. Is it just that simple clothing that isn't particularly fashionable takes a looooong time to completely look odd?
I don't think I have anything bought within the last 15 years that I'd be embarrassed to wear out.
Oh, I have clothing from the '80s I occasionally still wear. A unique lightweight sweatshirt that looks almost new, some t-shirts. Unfortunately, I gave to charity my jeans from the '70s.
I have quite a lot of clothing from the 90s like outerwear jackets, raincoats, t-shirts, some timeless skirts & a couple of dresses. The work/business jackets aren't in style, now, so look dated...except for a couple. But I'm retired.
I tend to buy classic styles that don't go out of style, altho some things do go out of style, anyway. The manufacturers make sure of that. But whatever is out of style will likely come back in style, with a slight difference.
I have a pair of books that are at least 20 years old - I can't remember whether I got them for my 30th or 40th birthday but I am 60 now. Anyway, I've had them resoled three times and I absolutely love them. They are Cole Hahn flat ankle boots and are absolutely timeless. I remember when I bought them, they were nearly $200 even back then. Well worth it though.
