It is if you don't like to wear your traditional scarf in that fashion. See, that's the thing. There are many ways to wear my long scarves. But I don't like wearing them completely wrapped around my neck so that it looks like your photo. I don't like that look. Many other don't like that look. Those that do, can also wear the infinity scarves. I like my scarves hanging down - I like the fringe ends...I love THAT look.
Infinity scarves, also called ring scarves, are not new.
I had some smaller "infinity" scarves I occasionally wore, but I stopped wearing them 30+ years ago.
At that time they were much smaller and made of lighter fabric. It was in fashion, but it didn't last long.
OP, Just wait it out...they'll be gone soon enough.
I enjoy scarves, the longer the better. I certainly would not mind having the one VB is wearing. I would really like to find scarves longer than the standard 72"-76" but haven't had any luck. I also like to wear them with the center at the front of my neck, wrapped around the back and both ends in front.
They are no different from any other scarf wrapped around the neck if you actually wrap it around your neck. As for the scarves draped around the collar with ends hanging loose (although to the floor is overkill), I have no problem with those, which have been around forever. The draft horse collar/Christmas wreath around the neck trend I find ridiculous, but just my opinion.

I imagine that cowl-neck sweaters must cause you to have some kind of seizure.
It's at least presumably winter when you're wearing it, and it can be pulled up to cover your face outside.
You own a "scawl," don't you?
