As Im sure you know, the spreading of the disease usually occurs during the primary outbreak before antibodies against it are created. So fortunately for that fella it is very unlikely that he will spread it other parts of his body if his primary outbreak has already cleared.

I always keep in mind that cleanliness really is the key to knowing whats occurring on the body. Crotch rot, yeast infections, jock itch etc are typically a result of poor hygiene and they will only exacerbate any skin condition...

all the more reason to shave, I say!
Spreading disease can happen at any time with or without blisters. You do not only infect people during your primary outbreak. Some people don't even notice the first outbreak unless it makes them sick. Those blisters have high amount of the virus in the fluid. Again...please STOP with telling people the wrong info on this.

The male problems mentioned can also come from living in an enviroment that has high humidity or having a lifestyle/job where you get sweaty and can't just hop in the shower right away (outdoors/sports/work)

As far as dude's shaving the stuff...Whatever. I would be afraid to shave balls if I had them. Too strechy...too many cutting dangers. LOL
It does not freak me out though. I just had Harold & Kumar's pantless party images pop up...Do not rock that crotch fro...trim it. Or see a pituary specialist if it hits that level. LOL

p.s. since a lot of guys seem to have a preference...I asked the boyfriend what he thought of it:

Me: So what do you prefer? Bald? Buzz? Strip? *******'s Jungle? (inside joke about finding a roomies pube trim clumps on the bathroom floor)
Him: What?
Me: (repeated)
Him: I don't care! Its not mine.
Me: So you don't have a preference? (with a tone of confusion)
Him: No! Im not insane!

Oh if he only knew why that made me laugh so hard.

Just an FYI. For those ladies who are shave or wax regularly (or considering doing so)... You may want to look into laser hair removal for your pubic region. It will probably cost you $1k or so for a Brazilian, but you'll never have to worry about hair in your pubic region again. To not have the hassle of grooming the vicinity again, it would seem worth the one time cost.

Nasty I suppose but a hairy hot pocket seems nasty to me. I get so icked out when I go use a loo at work and there is pubic hair on it. It makes me wonder just how hairy some woman are I always go for the shavers

Curious...you do a "visual inspection". How do you do this? I'm not being a smartass, ok, maybe a little, but how do you do this? Y'all get naked, you crawl down her thighs and take a look...tell her to spread em so you can get your inspection done before y'all can get down to business?

I don't know about other women, but if I thought a guy was 'inspecting' me we'd be done right then and there.

I can see it now. "Hey dude, I'm gonna wander on down to your d*ck and take a peek, make sure things don't look nasty. If ya pass my inspection then maybe you'll get lucky"...

In MY case, I know the person well enough to have had that conversation you spoke of so that I don't need to 'inspect'...I don't do one night stands, well, haven't since I was in my early 20's, and if I wasn't in a relationship I still wouldn't have sex with someone without knowing them well....well enough to trust them. This doesn't mean there wouldn't be a condom, but by the time we had sex you can bet I feel as safe as one can possibly feel in that situation.

I'd never do anything permanent when it comes to appearances. Permanent eyebrow hair removal, permanent lipliner/eyeliner. Things come and go. Bushy eyebrows were in at one time (Brook Sheilds, Jennifer Connelly) and now they aren't. Someday the natural makeup look will return.

I doubt super hairy will ever be in fashion, but the last thing I want is to permanently look like a pre-pubescent girl.
